I use Windows 7, which officially doesn't support Ryzen processors as per a Microsoft policy change.
The processor works fine, just they deliberately throw a giant splash screen at you repeatedly to annoy you into upgrading to Windows 10. Turns out, a simple memory patcher can disable the splash by changing the Unsupported Processor flag to a supported processor flag. The world could always use more heroes! |

It really sucks that soon Mac OS X 10.11 will be heading into "Archaic" and no longer supported, taking a lot of machines with it doesn't it? Although TBH my favorite OS X versions are Tiger, Snow Leopard and Mavericks "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

For my laptop, which I mostly do stuff like web browsing and chatting on (and occasionally music stuff), I'm using macOS High Sierra. It's hackintoshed -- I just tried it on a whim since I realized my laptop actually ran an Intel chip and kinda fell in love with the UI. Someday I'd really like to get a proper Mac, but I'm broke. I was dual booting Windows 10, but I got tired of dealing with Windows Update constantly breaking so I just kinda figured it wasn't worth the effort, especially since I already have access to a Windows computer.
My desktop, which is my main computer and the one I do most "sysadminning" (if you could call what I do that ) and "serious" work on, is just running Windows 10. It's all right, although I've gutted most of the telemetry stuff. I've considered using Linux as my main OS, but I don't like any of the desktop environments I've encountered so far... a shame, cuz I really like the filesystem structure and bash and shell scripts and apt and all that. 'Course, it's possible I just haven't found the right desktop environment yet... I also have a VPS which is running Ubuntu 18.04. It's been pretty fun to maintain it, actually. It feels like a cute little project that I can come back to and work on sometimes... right now I'm only really using it for an IRC bouncer and some web projects, but also just to sate my desire to learn more about Linux and bash and running servers and security and all of the tools available. |
