Posted by DanikaI wouldn't know, I guess so Posted by ThieppyI wouldn't say I have disdain for it (the name seems like a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that the stampeding rush of consumerism and traffic actually makes it a day of horror, analogous to Black Tuesday, but I think the actual day sucks. I'm just not fond of consumerism and capitalism and blah blah blah everyone's heard this stuffs already so whatever. |

if you were locked to only a single genre of music and you got to choose which, is there something specific you'd go for?
I'm curious because often your taste in music is all over the place. that, and the fact music tends to cross genre a lot. |

Posted by DanikaOh, god yes. Several times. I've also done it because I've gotten bored with my files... reminds me I'd like to play it again sometime, even -- I haven't played it in probably about 15 years at this point (OpenTTD would be fun to play again too, that's another one I haven't played in a while ) Posted by ThieppyNo, I don't think there is. I don't think I could choose a single genre because a) I often tend to only like one or two bands per genre and b) like you said, it's often hard to delineate genres on account of genre mixing. I like an unusually high percentage of shoegaze and drum n bass, but those aren't necessarily a given and I'd start missing other stuff if I only listened to one genre. Maybe between the two, DnB because that's a little more diverse. Or actually, can I pick a really broad genre? I'd pick electronic music. That's gotta be like, 1/6th of the world's entire music. Posted by ThieppyYeah, my taste in music is super diverse -- I pride myself in that. |

I don't have a lot of knowledge of 80s R&B (I'm only marginally more familiar with 90s R&B). I guess Eric B. and Rakim or De La Soul or something, or are those too hip-hop |

Posted by DanikaI like Nirvana I guess there's other definitively-alternative bands I could name: Beck, Björk, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead (although I tend to like their 2000s stuff the most), Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, Rage Against the Machine, Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the Beastie Boys. Then, skirting a little closer to indie stuff, here, but could still probably be lumped in with the alternative camp: Unwound, Stereolab, The Sundays, My Bloody Valentine, Mazzy Star, Swirlies, Swallow, and Modest Mouse's 90s stuff. I'm also a little bit of a sucker for Alanis Morrissette's "You Oughta Know", look it's a childhood favorite okay. Also I heard the Cardigans' "Lovefool" the other day on the radio and I kinda liked it, ugh. I'm not huge on the Smashing Pumpkins but there's a couple songs off of Siamese Dream that I like actually, too. There's occasional random 90s hits that stick their way into my head and I'm like "whoah, that's better than I remember!" but then there's occasional stuff that makes me wanna throw that whole decade into the ocean. Posted by EpeleBleh whateverbug, I'm not huge on Christmas but I'm not a big debbie downer about it either |

I'm almost always up super late (until 4am or so), so that wasn't really an unusual posting time for me...
I was surprised at how little trouble I had sleeping that day, though, given that I had a 12-hour car trip waiting for me afterwards. |
