I haven't cared much for modern Nintendo since I was about 13-14 years old... I feel like they just lack something since the mid-2000s... sure the Switch is cool and all to most and the majority of users here will strongly disagree but Nintendo only really markets to under 12s here in the UK (TV advertising etc) and it seems most people who like them in this country are in that age group or have a similar maturity age... |

Yeah, they do view as such, because of said marketing etc. And I agree, they've lost something since around 2004-2005 when they started trying to appeal to everyone... the GameCube was the last console I actually enjoyed playing by them.
The Wii/DS just got boring after a while of play... |

The Wii gave me arm muscles. I can lift things!
Seriously, play something like Donkey Kong: Jet Race or Sonic Unleashed.. games quite heavy in motion control. Those felt more like a gym workout than a video game. It's the post-Wii era that's been a downfall imo. The world could always use more heroes! |

I do get where you're coming from... but honestly, the Wii felt a bit tacky, compared to other consoles of that generation. It felt like it was trying to be something new when in reality it was simply an overclocked GC with a few added features... and IMO the magic started deterioriating from around halfway through its release on when the sales dropped rapidly (and PCs were getting better around that point too; would have been late Vista era) |

Nintendo's always spent more of their budget on researching and developing ideas. Sony and Microsoft throw more at building up the specs of their consoles, which are just glorified gaming PCs at their heart.
The developers often prefer the higher specs as it provides less restraints for development. Though, I feel that has led to the 100 bottles of bugs, sitting on the wall. Patch one out, 105 bottles of bugs, sitting on the wall.. The world could always use more heroes! |
