Posted by Darkherothat's a tough one to answer mainly because there's a lot of different kinds of retro computers i'd like to own. i don't think i have a single dream one, there's a lot of different ones i'd like to play with... right now i'm kind of eyeballing an imac g3 or a g4, they're gorgeous and not that expensive as it turns out i like a lot of older 80s/90s PCs from before the 386/IBM days, like the amiga and even the atari ST i've been interested in for a while there's a lot of other weirdo looking stuff from the 90s i like -- i'm kind of into that weird "ergonomic" aesthetic circa 95 where computers were still steeped in beige sensibilities but also could be weird shapes or start incorporating colors. i like super early 90s stuff with big ugly bricky mouses, back when computers kind of felt like portals into some strange world we'd never been, you know, or could connect us to people we'd never known... when computers still had the clock speed counters on them and the turbo buttons and the locks but i've always REALLY been fascinated by the ZX spectrum too ever since seeing jetpac in dk64 as a kid, and then hearing "let down" by radiohead as a teen, then just seeing the bizarrely limited but fascinating color palette, some of the stuff you can do in spite of it... plus i love the aesthetic of that thing, just as a machine, with the whole rainbow-on-black scheme. that might be my dream computer if i had to pick just one Posted by Danikaehh? is she a catgirl or something Posted by ゼンガー・ゾンボルトum, the third one |

Posted by RamblyPosted by Keikishoaw i like white chocolate ;; - can I give you all the white chocolate I get? I'm not a big fan. I legitimately tried tho Posted by Rambly - wait, you make music? may I ask what software you use to achieve that, what your resources are (soundfonts and whatnot), and wether you compose your own tracks or base on others'? gotta say, if that was advertizement it worked very well. picked my interest |

how desolate is it that despite Dani mentionning Taryn to everybody, none will get to meet her in person?
I'm thinking about ones that joined after the incident.. and onwards. |

Posted by Thieppyhardly, these days. i get by Posted by Thieppymm, usually if i have a friend who can make a genuinely good case for something being interesting i'll check it out. a lot of my "filter" for deciding what i should check out and not is just... whether it genuinely reaches me through word of mouth i guess. by "genuinely" i mean like, whether or not people tell me about it cuz they're genuinely excited about it as opposed to it being a big cultural event, or whatever. the problem is i just don't get out a ton (all my close friends are pretty geeky types) and i don't have any sort of TV access (never have) so there's a ton of stuff that i've just never heard of or heard anything about. like i know game of thrones exists but i've never ever seen it or been compelled to watch it Posted by Thieppyhappily, i'll never say no to free chocolate! Posted by Thieppyooh well, there's a looot of stuff i use... FL Studio 10 is probably the thing i've used most in my life. there's like a bunch of random VSTs i have including from this site called tweakbench and i have a bunch of dumb samples i'll just mess around with sometimes (including ripped n64 game samples, lol). there was a period a while back where i was sampling drum beats a lot and cutting them up like some 80s/90s/00s hiphop person -- i know that's not in vogue right now cuz it's all 808s and shit but i love the sound of more "natural" stuff being cut up and repurposed (shockingly i love nujabes). anyways, i don't have specifics for soundfonts and VSTs cuz i'm not very good at keeping track of this stuff... sometimes i'll use old tracker stuff if i'm in the mood for that (sometimes this weird old tracker called sound club, which i'm pretty sure like 5 people have ever heard of -- i also like famitracker). in sound club, most recently, i wrote a lot of... moody, electric piano-y stuff. stuff that sounds like nighttime music i guess and then i can play a couple instruments, although not very well. i bought a squier telecaster not too long ago and it sounds cool as shit, and i'm getting an epiphone SG soon too. i can semi play piano, but i'm terrible at it. i have a fast track and some USB stuff that i can use to record this stuff now, so that's fun. as for music, i almost always write my own... i've thought about doing covers of stuff and thought maybe that might be fun -- sometimes i'll just play other peoples' songs if i'm just messing around or whatever but i've never actually sat down and worked on a cover like it's a project, but lately it's been kind of an urge i've had, watching stuff like what fluffymomo does has really ignited that urge in me Posted by Thieppyoh, no, it wasn't. i'm way too embarrassed to show most people anything i've written (only a handful of people have ever heard my music and i've never posted it publicly) Posted by Danikashe was nice. i miss her Posted by Thieppyit's pretty desolate... i can't imagine what it's like for the people that just hadn't met her period. to know there was a person that had that level of influence, that so many people were friends with, that just... isn't here anymore Posted by Darkheronot a ton... i played the demo for super bat puncher which was fun (but i don't think it ever got finished...) and i played a little bit of streemerz. but most of my contact with indie games has been through PC stuff... |
