The Save icon does not represent a floppy diskette. The Save icon represents saving.
At least that's what Stack Overflow and UX.StackExchange said. |

Not really. It just shifted in meaning over time. I mean, who uses folders nowadays? The actual things that the icons represent, that is. And how come you "save to (floppy) disk", but "load from a folder"?
Some programs use folders for both, with an arrow pointing out of or into it, for loading and saving respectively. That still leaves the question, "what the fuck is that folder thing supposed to be?" At least, for the young'uns. |
