Apparently you can also beat the MD version by getting 1 billion points instead of just beating all the bosses. I wonder if that's also in the original or was something Technosoft added. ____________________ produced by or under license from cat witches co, ltd |

I've been on a real NEC kick lately. I've been looking at/playing a lot of PC-88/98 and some PC Engine stuff. I mostly got interested in it to check out the older Touhou games, but there's a lot of really cool stuff on there that's literally just 90's anime in pixel form, it's sick as hell.
I've come to admire the simplicity in those games a lot especially, often times especially nowadays people will often think of games as these big things that are meant to be shipped out and sold for $60 with like 4 season passes or some shit. However these games just feel so nice as these small, arcade-y things, it's a very pleasant feeling. I'd really really like to make a game that aesthetically resembles something you could find on those systems sometime soon-ish. It seems to be a mostly untapped market, the only somewhat recent game I can maybe think of in that vain is VA11 HALL-A. (which is a very cool game by the way, check it out if ya haven't) ____________________ Giant Paratroopa Affected by 'Wooster Syndrome' ++++!! Handsome Gentleman 7/23/18 |

If I could I'd totally make a game based around the limitations of the X68000 complete with a soundtrack using the YM2151 and MT-32 ____________________ produced by or under license from cat witches co, ltd |

♥12425 ✿4708 ★51 Posted by Darkhero You'd be surprised with the tools that are out there; for example, the tracker I used to make the music in Aspect Legend and Space Ava also supports the YM2151 (and the PC Engine's soundchip). It's definitely doable! |

♥12509 ✿4708 ★51 Ys Book I & II on the TurboGrafx-CD. I tried Ys I ages ago on the MSX and couldn't get used to the bump system at all, but this version it seems much smoother, I got used to it right away. Enjoying it quite a bit. |

Decided to finally dive Dragon Quest XI.
Shit's great so far. Only about five hours in, to Hotto. On my way to save Veronica's sister. This game didn't hold anything back, it started with a punch to the feels, and every time you think you're back on your feet, it kicks you again. The scene where the hero talks to his grandpa, then find the letters was a big one for me. |

Posted by Darkherosounds about right for the Xeno games i'm playing DARK SOULS right now because i'm an EPIC CHALLENGE GAMER no but seriously it's great so far. impeccable design almost everywhere and just consistently fun and challenging. i think i like demon's souls a little bit more, but dark souls' world is just mmmm yum delicious me likey it seems as if this "from software" company is one to watch, folks. hopefully i'll play bloodborne sometime before 2030 i am also playing Metroid Fusion sometime when i wasn't active here, i beat Metroid Prime 1 again and came to the conclusion that it still holds up and is excellent but Metroid Fusion isn't really doing it for me so far. i'll need more time with it for my feelings to actually crystallize properly, i'm sure, but so far it's just not all that compelling as a metroid game also i've been playing a lot of city builder sims lately for whatever reason mostly cities: skylines with the occasional sim city 3000 |

♥12646 ✿4708 ★51 Been on an SNK fighting game kick lately; tonight it's The King of Fighters 2000. First game in the series I've played, surprisingly-- was more likely to go for Windjammers or a puzzle game those few times I've run into an MVS machine in the wild. |

Posted by Nicolyn Nice! I've never managed to get good at KOF at all, but I've always loved the art/designs in those games. Especially KOF 13, it's quite a bit newer since it came out in 2010 but by god that game has some of the best damn spritework I've ever seen in a fighting game. Shame they had to fuck it up with the wack-ass PS2-level 3D graphics of KOF 14. Seeing a game go from some of the best looking shit ever to that is just... A really good SNK fighter would probably be Garou Mark of the Wolves if you've never played it. It came out around the same time as Street Fighter 3, and didn't quite reach its level of popularity, but I've played it on a handful of occasions with friends and it's a pretty cool game. It has very simple and basic designs for a fighting game of its time, but they work surprisingly well. I'd still say my favorite thing by SNK is probably Metal Slug though, just cuz I played it waaay more as a kid than their fighting games. Easily my favorite shoot-em-up of all time. ____________________ Giant Paratroopa Affected by 'Wooster Syndrome' ++++!! Handsome Gentleman 7/23/18 |
