♥12621 ✿4838 ★30 Posted by Darkhero Honestly, by the time they sold their PC division Tandy had basically evolved into a boring PC clone manufacturer; if they were still around, they'd have a website that says "Tandy recommends Microsoft Windows 10". Sadly, the same fate is likely to have befallen Commodore by now as well; they were already making plans to move to Windows NT; given how RISC performance went vs. Intel in the 90's, they'd probably end up just another PC clone manufacturer by the 00's. An interesting hope would be for Tramiel-Atari to not release the Jaguar and then have the Atari ST line (supposedly it remained profitable up to its discontinuation) get sold to a company willing to quadruple down on the ST's popularity among musicians. (I've seen some proposals to change the definition of planet to cover this by allowing bodies that will, given enough time, clear their orbits, even if they're not cleared at this moment-- this wouldn't save Pluto, of course) |
