holy shit nincollin i wanna buy ur laptops now xd

also try winme on ur main retro machine or the 98se one, if u dont use kernelex u can get a slightly later opera (10.68) and it has generic usb1.1 support built in. Plus 2k theme is sexy uwu

ME ran fineish on a compaq mini cq10 aside from lack of drivers but if ur machine has drivers built for me properly then it will be better than 98se (real mode dos is easily enablaale if u have a boot disk), unfortunately alot of me supporting drivers are bleh

me is like vista, everyone blames the os but its not, its driver support that makes stability

They're pretty crap. I haven't been able to get a new computer in a long time, but I'd like to. I do not have a solid state drive.

SHINONOME (desktop from 2010):
ASRock N68-S (lol) (i had a better motherboard, but it died in 2014 so i had to use a backup)
AMD Athlon II X4 640 @ ~3.0 GHz
6GB DDR2 RAM
1TB Western Digital HDD ("NANO")
NVIDIA GeForce GT220 2GB
some shitty PCI wifi thing
some shitty dell thing from 2007 for the monitor
WD Elements 1TB external HDD
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

ANARCHY (laptop from 2011 that I inherited in 2017):
Sony Vaio VPCCA3AFX
Intel Core i3-2330M @ 2.2GHz
4GB DDR3 RAM
Intel HD Graphics 3000
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 (doesn't work on macOS, so I usually end up tethering my phone's Wi-Fi lol)
350GB Seagate HDD of some kind ("Stocking" macOS, "PANTY" Windows)
macOS 10.13 "High Sierra" / Windows 8.1 Ultimate

SSD prices are falling though. Give it about two to three years, and they'll probably start replacing HDDs overall.

The problem isn't SSD price points so much as a lack of available income on my part.

OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
Case:Corsair 300R Windowed Edition
PSU:SeaSonic Focus Plus Gold 750W
Motherboard: Asus TUF X470-PLUS Gaming
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X
RAM: 16GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX (3000Mhz)
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Windforce OC
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 500GB

Mom bought me a new used computer out of nowhere sometime in the spring (I literally just randomly got a big box at my door one day with a computer in it), so now my specs are a little different. Not too much better, but better at all, at least -- I don't do a lot of PC gaming, so it'll suffice and won't be a decaying piece of shit ready to burst into flames at any time like my old computer was.

SHINONOME (hilariously refurbished HP Compaq 6200 Pro SFF from 2013):
Intel Q65 Express
Intel Core i5-2400 "Sandy Bridge" CPU @ ~3.10GHz (6MB cache, 4 cores)
8GB 1333MHz DDR3 RAM
500GB Western Digital HDD ("NANO")
1TB Western Digital HDD ("HAKASE")
NVIDIA GeForce GT 710
some actually fairly decent PCIe wifi thing
two shitty dell things from 2007 for the monitor
WD Elements 1TB external HDD
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit

I actually have the resources to buy a new computer at this point but I'd just... rather spend that money on other things. More interesting and weird retro computers, more music stuff to make music with since I like doing that, more fun stuff. This works fine for my purposes (90% web browsing and playing old games), so whatever.

Built my computer last year for some reason.

CPU: Intel i5-8600K
GPU: GTX 1060 6GB
Memory: 16 GB
Storage: 250 GB SSD, 1 TB HDD
OS: Currently on Manjaro, with XFCE

Overkill for my computing, since I mostly draw/write/surf. But for when I want to play GTA V (really the only bigboy game from this decade I like) then it works great.

It's the same old laptop from 2011! Fun!

KUROKPC

CPU: Intel Core i5 (2.67 GHz, 2 cores)
OS: Windows 7 SP1... after linguishing more than enough with SP0
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 250GB internal HD (+ 2 4TB drives)
Video: One of those old integrated graphics cards. Enough said.
Resolution: 1366x768
Internal Fan: Ain't worth shit
CD Drive: Works half of the time, CD / DVD burning fails

have I mentioned this is basically my main computer?
I'm using this as if it were a desktop, whereas what I should have been doing is actually getting a real desktop

...and possibly one with better specs >_>

You may or may not be able to recognize where I stole this grid background from.
