Suddenly, Kawa appears right behind Natalie and says, in a low rumble, "...I'm your worst nightmare."
He pauses to chuckle. "Sorry 'bout disappearing on y'all like that. I was... called away. Guild duties. That aren't actually finished yet, I just happened to be passing by while performing them so I thought I'd... you know? Had Cynthia put in stasis so she wouldn't go and miss me 'n shit. Speaking of..." He flips open his coat, as if he's Dracula about to do that triple-fireball attack, and out falls Cynthia, solid as a rock. "Might need her with me for the rest of my little sidequest", he finishes as he picks her up by the waist and prepares to disappear again. |

Caionna waves dismissively at Bel and Natalie, then says, "Don't worry... Zarik and Zissou are fine. I'm sure of it." She stares at the ceiling distantly, and goes on, "Yes, we were separated during the struggle, but I'm certain they're both alive and well out there somewhere."
She begins to fidget with the rings on her right hand, which brings them to the attention of anyone watching her. One ring is silver with a deep red stone inlaid in it, and the other is golden with a green sapphire adornment. Both look very intricately engraved, and shimmer in a way that belies the angle of the light that hits the gemstones, as if to signify another source of luminescence. She nearly misses Kawa's entrance due to being lost in thought, then replies at disjointed length, "Oh, welcome back, Kawa..." Coming back to reality, she inquires, "What kind of quest are you on?" |

Kawa exclaims in reply, one finger triumphantly stuck in the air as he disappeared in a mess of sparks like some sort of reversed Fleischer Superman, leaving only the odd question that probably shouldn't be answered; what "guild-related shenanigans" could involve, given the nature of said guild. |

You idiot, she's fiddling with them subconsciously because they're directly related to them and their well-being. At least, that was what Natalie figured the deal was with the rings. Whether she was right or not would have to be put down to either an answer or an examination... and she wouldn't be able to put forth an examination without being discovered.

Oh, uh... okay. Like... this?
Billy opens one last portal... "She's here. She is definitely here." "Um, Billy... exactly how do you know this?" Lucia asks. "You haven't even looked in yet." "I only looked in to check out what I'd stumbled upon," Billy responds. "I never said anything, but right before she left, she... gave me... this." He pulls a silver chain out from within his shirt, revealing a familiar sapphire teardrop pendant. The chain it was mounted to had been lengthened with the express purpose of permitting its use as a necklace. "Luminae's soul gem," Billy explains, seeing Lucia's confused look. "She didn't need it any more. So Natalie repurposed it... with her own soul. It's reacting noticeably now. She's definitely here." Lucia is rendered entirely speechless. How long had he been wearing that thing? She couldn't know. "It's been too long," Billy says to himself as he steps through the portal, appearing just outside the Tavern and wasting no time in entering. Within moments, he spots Natalie and hugs her tightly from behind. "Hey, guess who~" --- "...Billy? By the gods, it is you!" Natalie chirps, quite happy to see her favorite apprentice again. "I haven't seen you in two years~..." "Two years?" Lucia asks, a bit confused-sounding. She had just caught up to Billy. "Try ten months, Natalie." "...look, I know you're small on a lot of things, but time?" Natalie says. "I know I haven't seen Billy here in two years," she continues, motioning for him to sit with her. He quickly obliges and Natalie secures him within her wings. "Now, how much time's passed for you may be different from how much time passed for me." Billy just snuggles into Natalie, too distracted by being in her wings to care any more about the conversation going on. |

Looking the rings over as they both let off a faint sparkle, Caionna says, "I've had these rings since right around the time the conflict of my world began. They were made in a similar fashion to the soul pendant I'm wearing." She pulls the collar of her robe down slightly to reveal a necklace with a large, multifaceted purple gem, then she lets her collar return to its resting spot before continuing, "The rings are a type of tie between myself, Zarik, and Zissou. As long as there is light coming from them, I know they're out there... Somewhere..." |
