The Acmlmboard ArchiveQ: Why this?A: Well, why not? It would be nice to have an archive of the past/present Acmlmboards out there for preservation purposes, especially since quite a bit of versions have since disappeared off the net, or were never released to begin with. As far as I'm aware, this has been attempted before many years ago, but no surviving archive still exists. Currently this archive covers the 1.x versions, as well an archive of the Acmlmboard Hacks people used to make back then. The entries are generally ordered by date from the oldest to newest, and with few exceptions provide:
Special thanks to various people for their direct and indirect contributions to this project. TODO:
*for few versions I unfortunately couldn't provide the original untouched version. While the changes are incredibly minor, I marked them with a "_d" at the end of the file name. Hopefully I'll eventually be allowed to share the full unmodified versions. That said, the original versions are definitely getting preserved, just not publically. |

i assume all the security issues are as-is, correct?
this is really neat anyway though, lots of these versions I have never been able to find, and it's cool to see them all preserved |

I meant 2.0, 2.01 and such, not 2.1 and 2.5.x. |

Posted by KajA lot of the 2.x series will not work on PHP 7+. The codebase has only recently been updated for 2.5.x to work on PHP 7, which in itself was a bit of a nightmare. A lot of the design for 2.x was very loose, and relied on code methods which don't work for PHP 7. At a core level, a lot of the 2.5 code can be traced back to its 2.0 roots.. as much of an insecure mess as that was. I know that much, as I have tinkered with the code back then. Honestly, the PHP7 support would be 2.6 if you asked me.. There was so much to clean and fix. The world could always use more heroes! |
