Posted by DarkWitchClaire Well I have two big examples, Touhou for one thing. Wouldn't say I "disliked" it, per say, but I initially played it cuz U.N. Owen was all over the internet and I liked the song. At the time I thought it was too hard, but upon replaying the series again years later it's grown to become one of my favorite franchises and I've come close to 1ccing on various occasions (one of these days, dammit!). My second big example is the fighting game genre as a whole. In a similar way, upon first playing them I thought they had cool graphics and music but they were too hard for me to ever get good at. Posted by DarkWitchClaire Well, it was a gradual process that started with playing them a lot with a friend of mine. I played various games with him, and through playing them I started thinking "okay I'm gonna start practicing and learning it so I can beat him" and I improved over time. I'd say the most important game that truly got me invested was the Guilty Gear series. Everything about it from its character designs, its heavy metal aesthetic mixed with the cheesy but cool anime designs, its awesome soundtrack, everything about it was just made for me. It inspired me to actually learn to play it because it was just so cool to me. All of my favorite fighting games are usually impressive from an artistic/aesthetic standpoint alongside being good games, like Guilty Gear, SF Third Strike, Jojo HFTF, etc. ____________________ Giant Paratroopa Affected by 'Wooster Syndrome' ++++!!
