Posted by Robbie RageI'm going to blame game developers instead.Posted by DarkWitchClaire I've seen the space requirements for some games, with some passing the 100GB mark. I don't have any personally quite that large.. but I do have ~475 GB of games installed across a 500 GB SSD and 1TB HDD. I've even seen that Borderlands 3 is saying 75GB of space is required.. If I put that on my SSD, it'll pretty much clog up all the space, which leaves less space for software. I'm considering getting a second SSD just to put games onto, but I need to watch as SSD prices change a lot. The world could always use more heroes! |

Posted by EpelePosted by Robbie RageI'm going to blame game developers instead.Posted by DarkWitchClaire Yeah, it seems like game developers don't wanna bother compressing their assets anymore. I remember when the original Titanfall came out it was lambasted for being unnecessarily huge since the developers included all of the raw .wav files for every sound effect in the game and other stuff without compressing in the slightest. At the time I thought of it as an isolated case and thought it wouldn't be the way game developers actually released their games in the future, but looking at the size of some games now it's just downright criminal. One of the most egregious cases I came across was the PC port for Blazblue Centralfiction. It is not a particularly graphically intensive game by any stretch of the imagination, it's all a bunch of 2D pixel-animated sprites on top of fairly simple 3D backgrounds. So why in the great good fuck is the game 52 gigabytes? While yes, you can remove about 20 of those gigabytes if you delete all the story mode content, having the game be that unnecessarily huge is just unacceptable. Blazblue should not be among the biggest things on my fucking hard drive. But I guess as far as game devs are concerned, "they'll bitch about it but they'll still buy it". ____________________ Giant Paratroopa Affected by 'Wooster Syndrome' ++++!! Posted by Epele yikes. 75GB is about all I have in games period (not counting emulators) and every one of them is installed on the hdd (ssd space is precious right now). though I do have a good 400GB free on the hdd just for gaming stuff (and could allocate more if i moved the partitions around), the ssd has less than 100GB free (and i'd rather it not get close to 100% anyway) "The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear." --Ram Dass |

when i had a macbook i didn't really notice the lack of space either... but that's mostly because i have 1.5 TB of storage on my desktop where everything important is. i tend to take stuff and just dropbox it to my desktop after a while since it's kind of my "home base"
well, tended. i don't do anything anymore because my macbook died (rip) (long story) |

Heh, if you didn't get the "Loss free" reference, on another Discord server I'm in, there's a channel called "Loss free zone" where you can get banned from it by posting loss.jpg or variants Garhoogin did just that and got banned, I remember ![]() "Miracles happen, when you believe..."
