this is the part where i must confess i haven't seen much of his stuff on SNL (or nearly enough 90s SNL!) :( i've been curious about it for a long time but never gotten around to it. norm macdonald is another person whose SNL stuff i just haven't seen much of despite everyone loving him

i wasn't really part of fandoms during the '00s, i had too much social anxiety. but i probably would have been part of azumanga daioh and sonic fandoms, at the least. maybe a few other things, a lot of bands (radiohead lol). i do kind of remember being sort of along the periphery of trans livejournal communities too, i learned a lot there... i've never seen pirates of the caribbean, i wasn't into kingdom hearts until the 2010s, and i was never into harry potter all that much, so that's like, the three biggest fandoms on LJ that i just wasn't a part of

i like that one about the avon beauty vision computer that nicole linked a while back

also fond of the nick click, i had one of those as a kid and holy crap it's so crappy. also fond of the sony mavica one although that's more because i think it's genuinely kinda neat

i'm not sure but i've never used a worse one, even if you're a kid that doesn't care about high quality photography it's still unintuitive and clunky and not all that fun to use. ironically less fun to use than the game boy camera which somehow managed to have a higher-quality lens and more storage than the nick click (even though it only had 4 colors and took even lower-res photos)

gonna go against the grain and not pick the GBC, GBA, or iMac G3 (all good picks) and say the wonderswan color, which was genuinely a neat little handheld (that i've never played)

Best Radiohead album?
i tried answering this question by writing out a mini-review for all 9 Radiohead LPs but i literally wrote several paragraphs worth of gushing about little details in every song they'd done. some choice excerpts:

HOLY TITS. literally one album later and they've already written an opener that absolutely beats the shit out of anything on pablo honey: Planet Telex is FUCKING great. with the cool as SHIT ripply piano playing, the cool as COCK spacey "whoosh" noises, a cool as FUCK suspended-major-minor chord progression, the cool as a BITCH synth swirls during the choruses, and the cool as CUNT gritty guitar tone. this song absolutely knocks my tits off and murders my grandma every time i hear it. okay, the lyrics are stupid. BUT THE MUSIC RULES

my god, the opener, Airbag — is there anything out there that just gives me that unstoppable feeling more? like you've just survived something really horrible but you're on the other side and oh my god it's amazing to be alive??? people always say this band is depressing but this song is about surviving despite what can happen — it's genuinely life-affirming! IN AN INTERSTELLAR BUUUUUUURST I AM BACK TO SAVE THE UNIVERSE
the cool, weird keyboard-choir line run through tons of reverb so it sounds almost like a theremin. man that's so good i never noticed how good it was before

the reason i like this album is because all the songs are good. Paranoid Android is a brilliant sardonic, vicious rant against sorta late 1990s celebrity-worship culture and sick swanky politics, and oh my god is it Good,. Subterranean Homesick Alien is adorable and sweet and has that beautiful shimmering fender rhodes playing and that cool BWOOBWOOBWOOBWOOBWOOO guitar thing from jonny. i think it's jonny and that swoony sweet guitar playing. Exit Music, oh my god, that feeling of wanting to take someone out of a horrible situation and the anger that feeling gives you — the acidity in the song, the DEEP BOOMING fuckin drums at the end with the DEEP bassline. AND YOUUUUUU CAN LAAAAAAAAUGH A SPIIIIIIIIIIINELEEEEEESSSSSSSS LAUGH. fuck this band is so good they make me excited about music and the way you can emotionally connect to songs and they become the backdrop to your life and just, ugh, i don't get caught up in stupid fucking boomer ass reverence like some posh RateYourMusic "Yes. This is truly an album for the ages, and there will never again be A The Beatles, because the lads could do no wrong," shit. i just enjoy listening to music when i listen to this band, they make me appreciate the musicality of music more,

oh right there's other songs.

THIS ISN'T EVEN MY FAVORITE RADIOHEAD ALBUM IT'S LIKE MY SIXTH FAVORITE AND I'M GUSHING LIKE AN OVEREXCITABLE SQUEEING FUCKING TEENAGE GIRL GOD

Let Down literally samples a ZX SPECTRUM which is the best thing ever done in music FUCK the beatles they didn't know SHIT.

and i realized if i kept going i was literally going to spend all evening writing about every single musical moment in every Radiohead song that i liked because i love them a lot! but if i did that it'd take up my entire evening and while i'd love to write about that sort of thing, i also have other stuff to do tonight. so instead i'm just going to keep it short and simple and say that while it's hard to pick one best, In Rainbows is extremely close to my heart and has been my favorite for years.
