I don't pirate things but I really don't care what happens there, to be totally honest.
Would you be happy to have someone pretty much, able to watch your every movement on the internet, just 'cause they want to watch you to see if you're a pirate?

Well, I know I wouldn't.

Nope. I wouldn't appreciate it. They can shove all these laws up their ass. ACTA, PIPA, SOPA, all of them.

Nobody likes them in general so what even make them in the first place?

Edit: Trel, that was about the article, not the thread. Besides I said I would read it later anyways.

Most people didn't hear of ACTA. It gained less attention than SOPA to say the least.

That's because they tried to force through the law "below the radar/behind locked doors" before the public caught wind of it. I tried to notify as many people in my vicinity as possible.

Even so, They aren't going to get passed unless the Government gets sloppy so there is still a question in order, I'm just not sure what it is, myself.

One of these will get passed eventually, that's what I believe.

And it has nothing to do with Governments getting sloppy at all, it has to do with the fact that they work in self interest, just like everything else. I don't think I need to even mention how big lobbying is in the states or how much money goes into it.

Further more, you know they say: Everyone has a price.

Unfortunately yeah, I believe one of them will eventually be passed. Doesn't matter if it's infringing on rights, it makes them money, they want it passed. I'm honestly surprised ACTA wasn't passed.

I don't pirate often and I won't cry if it ever disappears, but the only bad thing is that you can't get rid of piracy without getting rid of a shit ton of our rights. I'm sure if they could, they'd do it without infringing on my rights, but of course they can't so they won't. So they'll break into the right of privacy, free speech, all that, just to stop piracy.
