I've never been a fan of Touhou, but I probably played the games more than some fans of it. I actually enjoyed em, despite not even LIKING shmups of any kind, bullet hell or otherwise. I mean they're OKAY but I'd rather play other games. Touhou though, they were fun. Not worship worthy, but eh.

It wouldn't surprise me if a lot of the people who are into the characters and fanart/fanfiction etc, of Touhou, were actually people who haven't completed the games or are quite average at the game (unable to beat above easy setting).

Espgaluda II or III (whichever I saw on that game convention in early November last year) looked quite fun.

Old, but still great... Really nearly all my Touhou knowledge comes from remixes. :P (And one mostly-failed attempt to play the games- maybe Shoot the Bullet wasn't the best place to start?)
