Does it assume PHP? Is there a way to specify which language is being used?

Also, it doesn't seem to preserve spaces, which seems odd. Example:

no indent
two space indent
four space indent

I am not sure exactly myself. I'll assume PHP but I'd need to take a closer look.

And when I revamp bbcode and add my improved system, it will take space properly because having no space is annoying to me.

Make sure it allows you to select which language (incl. plain text aka none) you want it to highlight for (ie: [code=PHP] etc). :)

Hmm, good idea. When I take a closer look, I'll implement the [code=laugage] idea. :D

And, of course, it should default to no language. See the IRC logs to see how the syntax highlighting makes them look pretty amusing.

It doesn't preserve whitespaces because it isn't in <pre>. Also, I think what is done is generalized highlighting that attempts to match as many languages as possible. no is a keyword in Perl, so I think this is why it's highlighted (but bless is keyword too...).
