I like it so far. I don't care if it's rehash or not, I like these games, and I'll keep forking up the dough until I'm unable to play anymore. :)

So far I got the first alternate world, and got to world 3-2. I can just hear KP now
"World 3, of course.. fucking water world"

;)

Makes me wonder. Are all the worlds' themes that same as their SMB3 equivalents?

The world themes are Grassland, Desert, Water/Forest, Snow & Ice, Magma/Bowser. Those are the main, numbered, worlds.

I've played through the first five worlds, and world Mushroom. Not spending any star coins though.

The world could always use more heroes!

In SMB3 terms;
1, 2, 3 (really wasn't forests but 4 had that feel), 6, 8.

Now the the only odd one I've been in is Mushroom-1 and the whole world feels like it would be unique. I need to play more of it to know.

The most fun I had in this version of the game is finding all the secrets. Some are quite well-hidden, and while the game is suffering from sequalitis, it's still enjoyable. Actually when it came to the previous Mario game on 3DS, the 2D/3D platformer hybrid Super Mario 3D Land... it suffered from the lack of secret levels IMO.

And it's challenging enough to not be dull, I was actually worried it would be too easy. Even if it hands you 1-ups like candy but nearly all Mario games suffers from that anyway.

I managed to find all secret exits and now played every world/level, gathered all 3 moon coins and got 3 crowns for lives. I am now finding all the remaining starcoins (10 left in total)

I must say that the secret exits or blocks were kinda easy to find atleast for me.
Being a hacker level designer for NSMB DS, I kinda predicted where the invisible blocks and vine would be, so it kinda spoiled the fun :(

I actually liked it better than the original New Super Mario Bros (although probably not better than the Wii one). The coin gimmick was pretty pointless, though...it's fun at first, but it kind of loses its novelty after a while, and there's no way in heck I'm going for the million coins (yes, I do already know what you get for it). There weren't many levels that stood out to me, though, which is a double-edged sword: On one hand, there wasn't much in the way of "That One Level", but on the other hand, there wasn't much in the way of levels that I really liked either. Of course, NSMBWii had a substantial number of the former (2-4, 6-6, 8-4, 9-4, 9-7) and about the only good example of the latter I can think of is 8-7...but eh, whatever. I also thought the secret worlds were rather weak. Overall, though, definitely a game worth getting. And yes, I'm sick of the whining as well. True, the only other time we've gotten two Mario games that are so similar without being outright remakes are with SMB1 and The Lost Levels, but would you rather have a game that's too similar or no game at all? Mega Man games are all nearly identical to their predecessors, and I've never heard complaints about them. And I, for one, never get sick of Mega Man or Mario. I'm definitely looking forward to New Super Mario Bros. U, too...only 37 days left! (Unless GameStop had to place me on a later order because the first one was sold out...)
