I've been thinking about switching to an education minor. I plan to teach, so I thought it'd be a good idea. My adviser told me it was a great idea, cause I need to take electives anyway, and minor courses count as electives. So it'd knock lots of birds out with one stone. I thought "great!" and went to do that today.

Education building told me to go all the way across campus to some other building to change my minor. I took their word for it, sat in the office for 10 minutes, only to have the lady say "There is no such thing as an Education minor". WHY was I put on that wild goose chase for an hour in freaking blinding-hot weather?! And why didn't my adviser know that Education minors didn't actually exist? God dammit. Oh well, I'm still gonna take the classes as electives. I just liked the path of "Education minor".

<Natalie> so i'm trying to explain to this guy that there is only one context in which division by zero returns an actual value
<Natalie> (hint: try dividing forty lollipops evenly among zero kindergarten students; how many lollipops have you given to kindergarten students?)

Twenty minutes later...

<Natalie> welp.
<Natalie> now i just fucking hate him.
<Natalie> which is fucking wonderful. i've fucking alienated everyone i know.
<Natalie> again.
<Natalie> way to fucking go natalie you are GIRLFRIEND OF THE YEAR

I got my car insurance quote for renewal through. It were pretty much half what I paid for the first year. I were expecting something higher to be honest.

Just pondering what to do with the money I'd been stockpiling since. Thinking a holiday.. but where? :x

My PVR arrived this evening and I decided to get it set up.

After the required reboot, I figured I would see how it handles things. The first thing I noticed was it will NOT interface with Virtualdub at all! I have to use the software provided on the driver disc. The software doesn't seem all that bad, but I've grown accustomed to VDub.

As for the hardware, the composite ports on the front are absolute shit. The picture is really blurry, and I can't tweak it enough to clear it up. The component side, however, looks simply amazing.

My major gripe, however, is what's actually on topic here... Since it does encoding on the device's board before sending it to the computer, whether you're recording or not, causes an input delay of about two seconds, which is enough to make most action-based games impossible to play. Unfortunately, the majority of the games I can't play in SD are action-based.

Looks like I need an HDTV after all... I can't afford one right now is the problem.

Fuck!

Trel, you should consider picking up some cheap RCA splitters from Walmart (probably run you less than ten) and split the signal, running part of it to a TV.

Anyway, I've tweaked the hell out of my wrist this morning, bad enough to be wearing a brace for it. Right now, it's got me bummed and is making computing of any sort a real chore. Aside from that and an impending O chem final next Wednesday, my mind is pretty much at peace.
How have you all been?

The PVR has native splitting on it. It will allow a pass-through via a set of outbound component plugs, so that's not the issue. The issue is, however, that I lack an HDTV to output to.

Good news on that front, though, my brother has an old 27" TV that he's been looking to get rid of. I hit him on on Facebook tonight to get the specifics on it, and he said he'll sell it to me for fifty bucks. All I need to do is save up money. Luckily I landed that job at the gas station.

How have you all been?

I've been struggling to get motivation to do things lately. Mostly from the mild depression of being out of work and being broke because of it.

My buddies have been trying to motivate me by doing the race videos with me, so that's a plus. We're currently looking for people for a few other co-op projects.

Speaking of, those are on my mind.

Anyone with a PS3 copy of Scott Pilgrim and the Wallace DLC -OR- a Steam copy of Castle Crashers that aren't shy and willing to scream at/be screamed at by a couple other crazy people want to join me in an LP of either game?

Anywho, welcome back, Xe.

Good to see you alive, Xeruss :D It's been a while.

I'm doin' alright. Last night I went to a Magic the Gathering thingy here at college with a bunch of people. I just expected to play some games, which I did, cause I didn't have any new cards to trade with since last time. I kicked ass in a few games, then my friend Hannah showed up. I had told her to come to this one and she finally did. She showed up, played one game, then came over to me and said she was quitting Magic.

Then she gave me ALL OF HER CARDS.

It was the nicest fucking thing because of my god some of these cards. They're all old (she was big during like one of the best sets, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor), and some are super expensive. She has two completely built championship decks in the box from 2001. One's worth 60 dollars and one is worth 50. IT'S BLOWING MY FUCKING MIND.

I'm gonna spend all of today organizing them.

Indeed, good to see you again @Xeruss, welcome back!

I woke up this morning still tired. I've yet to really get energized.. I did get some food shopping done but that's all I've been able to do. Wondering if I am getting sick.. (runny nose, possibly a fever..)

I had plans to get some stuff done today. .at least I got the most important thing done.

It's cold in here and it's also dinnertime and nobody is cooking dinner yet.

Which I guess is perfectly normal since my parents are incapable of keeping an actual schedule... I was half an hour late to an event thanks to their inability to do things.

Ah yes, I misunderstood. I'm sure I've plugged the idea to you before, but if for some reason that doesn't pan out, I would highly recommend watching the free section of your local craigslist. It's probably furnished half my apartment by now, and I've seen quite a few lower-end HDTVs pass by. :P

I started nearly two years ago at this point. I jumped in right when Zendikar was disappearing, unfortunately, cause I love the Zendikar block a lot. But I'm relatively new, in the grand scheme of things. I love old sets though, so my friend's gifts were awesome to me :D Lots of older awesome stuff.

I'm normally quite healthy, yet the last 40 hours or so (aprox.), I've been rather ill. Having a body temperature which goes between the two extremes quickly really sucks.

Well it isn't as bad as that thankfully. I am better today... it's the unshakable tiredness that really sucks. Though there is something like that going around. Since I work at a university it's ground zero for that. 30k+ people in one place lol

For the last couple weeks, I've been hearing a scratching and gnawing noise coming from the far side of the room where my mom has a load of her shit cluttering up the corner.

At first, it didn't bother me. Now, it's getting to the point that it's waking me up. In fact, it's the reason why I'm up right now.

I know what it is, too, seeing as I now have confirmation. It's a fucking mouse, and it sounds like it's gnawing on something plastic to make a nest. I found out what it is because I left a pack of graham crackers on my table, and when I turned on my lamp to see what I was doing, I found one of them pulled out of the packet and partially eaten.

I'm gonna need to get something to take care of the little fucker because I don't want a cat in here to catch it, given that I have fragile electronics that I don't want knocked off of where they are.

I was hoping for another hour or so of sleep before getting up for my first day of work, but Mousey McFucker keeps making noise.

Side note: Emuz, you chopped a quote close out of your last post in this thread and it makes your post look strange.

Moving.

I really don't want to move, but being in the military, it's not an option. When they want to send you somewhere else, you're pretty much gone. My fate for moving is pretty much sealed as we currently have an E-7 running our office, and I'll be promoted to E-7 in a couple of weeks...problem is according to the document that says how many of what rank is authorized for our office, we're not authorized any E-7s. Yeah, it's possible for one of us to stay, but out of the people here now, I've been on base for over 6 years, and in military terms, that's a long time and I'll be the first to go. Expecting to hear about it pretty much any day now and it's a little unnerving. No idea where they'll send me, but I can be pretty much assured that I'll be placed in charge of a large group of knuckleheads and paperwork, as opposed to being the typical physical worker that I very much enoy. *sigh*

You just answered your own question. You've got good immune defense, right? The better that is, the harder you might be hit by various illnesses.

First off, no, he didn't "answer his own question". Second, that's not always right. Third, you are answering a rhetorical question.
