I actually thwarted a "download our toolbar to download this file" download site (that had what I was looking for) by deleting the overlay HTML object. |

Posted by GreyMaria That reminds me of the countdowns on download sites. By examinating the javascript it's possible to get the link address. Something interesting to make would be a browser addon that automatically recognizes these scripts and bypasses the timer. ____________________ Kuribo64 - melonDS want some revolution in your coffee? |

Not to mention Imageshack preventing you from getting the direct link without registering. Just look in the source and there it is. |

Those timers, I tend to just do something else during the countdown. Those are one of the most bearable annoyances of the web. Sure, they think you're probably looking at some of the sponsored ad sites.. but.. You may as well be in a different browsing tab at times. The world could always use more heroes! |

The thing that annoys me about those is that it gets rather obnoxious when you're downloading more than one thing through them (ie: minecraft mods when everyone puts their mod behind a god damn adfly link because OOH 5 CENTS PER YEAR THATS SO MUCH). |

I've not had too much trouble with ad block. I've been using it for a very long time. The thing I run into the most is "Please unblock ads on our pages, we need them to survive" image underneath the actual ad. I have hulu on the white list so it will actually work. That's the only one who I've run into where I need to do that (as of now.) The Dynamic Profile Administrator™"Never Knows Best" Note: if you can see this my layout broke. Posted by Gywall That's how I do it as well. Open Tab in background, do something else, come back and hey presto, download link. Download websites tend to be really annoying, though. I remember one that deliberately corrupted your download so you would pay for the service. |

Not using adblockers at all here. Ads never bothered me too much, and most of the sites I visit don't even use ads much.
Noscript tend to block most malicous ads indirectly anyway. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube
