For a few, it is.

As for [ being easier to type than <, that might very much depend on who's typing. I for one usually have my right pinky finger near Shift, the others around the JKLNM cluster, and my hand resting next to the trackpad, making <> pretty easy to type -- I just curl my fingers inwards a bit. The alternative would be to turn my hand clockwise. More than when I want to hit Enter, by several degrees.

I could provide illustrative pictures should they be needed.
