Cave Story and VVVVV are my favorite amongst "retro sounding games" sound. Although from those games, I have those as my favorites:

God I hated the "New" version of this song in the Wii/Cave Story + version. It was basically ruining the feel of the orginal, at least the Cave Story 3D version paid better respect (but then again, a better composer made that one).

VVVVVV - Positive force

Well, you could just quote someone to see the code. The visual differences between what works here and what shows up in youtube should be different enough to invoke investigation. But yeah, Gywall got it. If you want to just show the buttons and the seek bar, set the code's two height variables (there's one near the beginning and one near the end) to 32.

Now I am under the assumption NONE of you have heard of this game, which is fine. It's obscure *hipster glasses push up*. Nonetheless, the music is FANTASTIC. This is from the Amiga version, halfway through it goes into a sweet remix as well. I can almost picture this as music for an overworld of, like, a ruined world. Like Final Fantasy 6.

The Super Meat Boy admitted to a friend of mine who got in contact with him that he kind of cheated with the retro sounds. Apparently he did look into the various "NES" trackers around that would make native NES music, but he found them too hard to use. So he was just using some retro sounding instruments.

Which I thought was funny as his retro music (used for warpzone levels) sounds more accurate than most retro attempts I seen.
