I'm currently using two Internet connections at the same time.
One is for surfing, the other is for my server. Ironically, accessing my own server is very problematic with this setup; apparently the roundabout way of doing things doesn't work well on the Internet. Kind of amusing. |

Anya: I did get that a couple of times, but I was on my phone. Still out of the ordinary though, my phone usually loads almost as fast as my computer does (which is fast) unless I know I didn't have a great signal/connection. But I did, so... meh. |

♥3289 ✿5053 ★55 Posted by Liliana And I suppose I will be the one to ask the obvious question: Why use two connections? (I'm assuming the server and your surfing computer are in the same place; otherwise it's not surprising) |

Yeah, I've been having a lot of issues with YouTube and IRC on my Verizon FiOS recently... not sure if it's the router at fault or the ONT or what ![]() "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

♥3296 ✿5053 ★55 Posted by Lucca I never had issues like that when I had FiOS Weird...
However, I am experiencing the "site loads really slowly occasionally" issue... seems to only happen for a little bit, then it snaps back to normal. |

I *did* however disable my home web server, because technically stuff like that is not allowed on a residential connection (then again, Time Warner didn't care much of stuff like that either)"Miracles happen, when you believe..."

What kind of speeds do you get with Verizon? Is it a decent speed? |

I started at 15/5, then several months later we upgraded to 25/5 (as 15/5 was being phased out in our area) for no additional cost ![]() "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

Got to love free speed upgrades. But how close to those speeds do you actually get? The world could always use more heroes! |

I remember I got an upgrade from Comcast and ended up paying /less/ for 55/11. I love that shit. |

♥3300 ✿5053 ★55 Speaking of upgrades, I went through and installed all the new OS upgrades... so my tablet runs Windows 81, my phone iOS 7.0.3 (no clever name possible there), and my laptop Maverick Hunter OS X... and my other laptop runs Windows Vista, because stubbornness.
EDIT: Ooh, Dark Link rank |

I've updated my Surface pro to 8.1.. and my MBA to 10.9. I've not yet updated my main desktop as I've been too busy to do the post update cleanup. I'm updating my iPhone in a few minutes actually.. also I've changed out my avatar.
Also my desktop has a long a rather long uptime for OSX:

♥3316 ✿5053 ★55 Posted by Emuz That's pretty nice- I don't usually restart my laptop, but it does end up in sleep mode, so I doubt the uptime has ever been that impressive
As for 8.1, am I the only one finding the start button pretty useless for tablet use? |

Posted by TrapsterI'm guessing it has to do with things running (and accruing over time) in your process list that normally would be shut down by a restart. Instead the computer just goes to sleep without ever being power-cycled. |

Posted by KPI've also seen zombie processes which aren't running but holding up resources. I power down for sleep/work/etc and then power up when home. Sleep mode is also disabled on my machine for maximum performance, although I have a screen power-off timer set for inactivity.Posted by TrapsterI'm guessing it has to do with things running (and accruing over time) in your process list that normally would be shut down by a restart.
