What are some good games you've found that really get the playing thinking?
This could be something like Deus Ex where the use of Augmentations is questioned and general conspiracies, or perhaps some story that really had you thinking it was going in one direction and later makes you realize you were fooled into something and look like the bad guy all along. I had an example in mind for that last thing but I'll find it later. |

Oh, there's a lot of games like that.
Some of the Tales of series of games make you think about things going on in the story. There's some very valuable points in them if you're willing to take the time to think about it. I learnt a few various things from them as a result. The world could always use more heroes! |

Any puzzle game that involves falling pieces. You have to plan your placement ahead of the block as it falls, and you have to plan ahead of the pieces yet to come.
Also, any game that has anything the player can influence. RPGs tend to have this with skill systems that let you choose the order you learn things, or even the very class setup of the character. Anything competitive with Pokemon. You're given so many options and the ability to influence even the smallest things. Can choose your monsters, their moves, and their effort training, as well as influence their basic stats with things like individual values, nature, and ability. |
