This is something @Kiyoshi came up with earlier, splitting the set of Acmlmboards into generational subsets. Because fuck set terminology!
Basically, we've got three generations to start with: Acmlm's, the Second, and the OOP. Acmlm's • the original Acmlm's Board • Final Fantasy Legend • Add yours in a reply. The Second • board2 • Kafuka • Nikoboard and the other ABXDs • Jul • Neritic Net • Add yours in a reply. The OOP • AB 3.x • ABΔ |

There is Dirbaio's board, NSMBHD which would fit in "The Second", obviously. |

NSMBHD, like its header says, spun off from ABXD. I don't know if it should still be counted as one... |

Oh, I see.
Also, ABXD+ has been discontinued for it turned into an AJAX-abusing piece of shit. ROMHAXOR runs off ABXD 2.2 since a good while now (we never bothered to upgrade further, given how active it is). SMWC has Acmlmboard style, but there's no mention of it being actually based off Acmlmboard. Also it's much more restrictive on bios and layouts... Vizzed was bloated with tons of useless crap, making the software look awful. Despite the author's claims that it was mostly rewritten, it's still pretty much Acmlmboard inside. ZimBoard is a piece of shit based off a really old Acmlmboard version (1.61 or so). They took out any mention of it being Acmlmboard, but it's still Acmlmboard. Passwords are stored in plaintext. The 'security' is done with a shitload of Apache rules. Also the admin crippled the software to help with that, for example new users can only post once per day or so. Removing features is a great way to keep troublecausers out. ____________________ Kuribo64 - melonDS want some revolution in your coffee? |

The reason SMWC is so tight with it's layout rules is because every so often people would abuse html/css to completely change the look of the website or do malicious things with it. Examples: *Someone had a button as their user title that, when clicked, wiped your layout code. *People changed the entire look of their profile page and added gifs that slowed down the page. *People would use unreadable fonts or fonts that didn't exist across all platforms, causing readability problems. *People would make shitty layouts that broke tables or just looked plain bad. ____________________ board2: board harder|KAFUKA - Got post?|Opera - Try it today! ♥74 ✿5046 ★51 IIRC Vizzed is based on the 1.A3 version of Acmlmboard, Jul on the 1.92 version, and SMWC is a complete recode.
I'm not sure what distinguishes the "Acmlm's" generation from the "Second" really- just that the Second is newer and less coded by Acmlm as a percentage? (But there were extended Acmlmboards even way back- I remember Tuvai even implemented the legendary battle system) |

My view is based on versions.
IE: Jul is of the ABI generation, Kafuka is of the ABII generation, etc There are some odd ball boards too. I know Terra had at one point a ABII board (The Left Mouse Button Blackhole89 replaced the ABI install in tRO with an earlier version of ABII ) Plus I actually had a few private ones. "Pie Boards", and the defunct NotRO forums from the summer. I think all these I linked are archive/RO so I don't know if you want to add them or not. I don't know of any ABI other than Jul that are active really. The Dynamic Profile Administrator™"Never Knows Best" Note: if you can see this my layout broke. ALL THE CREDITS WILL BE REVEALED!! Terra didn't obtain the ABII from blackhole89, I remember asking him about that once. She probably obtained it from someone who had server access to Board2 at some point and only gives out to the Jul Club™. However now the board is closed.
Isn't the tRO board based off of this? Early, footerless Acmlmboard... As for active ABI's, there are still a few other than Jul... Xeogaming (AB1.92++), to name one of them. The W (which persists to exist despite the total piece of shit its software is), Vizzed... ____________________ Kuribo64 - melonDS want some revolution in your coffee? |

Posted by Mega-Mario If you mean the TwilightRO2 board, then I can say from memory that was a cutting off board2 at the point it was setup. It's just an earlier revision of the software. Never saw updates.. apart from an incredibly dirty anti-spam hack. The world could always use more heroes! |
