For $900 you could have gotten a really good barebone kit online and put it together yourself and never had an issue.

They were doing a deal to get a free Xbox with a purchase of a Windows 7 computer, I wanted to take that deal

For $700 you could have had a computer more powerful than that, running XP, and still had $200 left over for that Xbox.

Computers with XP are still being sold? Who would want that nowadays? :P

Windows XP has only one downside compared to 7.

It's a 32-bit operating system.

Not even that, given that there's an XP 64-bit edition. >_>

XP64 is pretty bad at driver support, incompatible with lots of games, and only available in English. I will give you that it is the fastest Windows ever.

I like 7, not going back because I don't want to lose my much increased security, proper SSD support, IPv6 support, better NTFS integration, DirectX 11, Superbar, Aero Glass, better stability etc.

I do have XP still running on my old PC, mostly to test hardware and provide Internet access for guests. I also have it running in VirtualBox for testing old or shady software.

"Hey mom, which do you prefer? XP or 7?"
"Which one's on the laptop?"
"7."
"And XP on the desktop, then... well, now that I'm used to 7..."
