Windows XP is dead after almost 13 years of support... honestly, it's about time too ;) (but, that doesn't matter for some crazy hobbyists like myself, who still use Windows 98 and 2000)

I'm going to miss some of the things in Windows XP myself (even though I first got an XP computer literally a few months before Vista came out, I was on 98 until then, then 2000 for a few months), but for the time it was an innovative operating system, the merger of the business/education (NT/2000) and consumer (95/98/Me) lines :D

I do have some XP stuff on my Windows 7, and I was even surprised that Windows 7 could run the Plus! screensavers and games from XP (hell, I even have some 98 stuff running on Windows 7 as well :P) It's sad that an era has come to an end (well, it was extended because of all the delays with Windows Vista/Longhorn though... 98 came to an end in 2007 IIRC and 2000 came to an end only 4 years ago)

Still, like how 98 and 2000 are still in use by hobbyists, I'm sure Windows XP will have a similar future ;) People will be keeping XP alive even after it's discontinuation by Microsoft, probably with something similar to KernelEx and other expansion packs (hell, Windows 2000 is still popular in East Asia)

So, what are some of your Windows XP memories and stories?

My first desktop computer was a Dell model that was provided with Windows XP MCE. Eventually, Vista came out, and Dell shipped an upgrade. Except that thing wouldn't install because the BIOS was misconfigured.

After spending much time wondering what was wrong, and eventually fixing the issue, I got Vista working, and it turned out to be shit. Why the hell can't I copy shit in C:\? I can do it fine in XP. And others...

For a while, I had a XP/Vista dual boot, and mostly used XP.

Let's also not forget the compatibility problems Vista caused with many programs. The ones Vista claimed to have potential compatibility issues, would either run fine, or crash when starting.

As of today, I don't use Windows XP aside from the univ's computers (which I tend to not use much because I usually have my laptop). My OS of choice is Windows 7.

I remember XP well. Well, it's time for Windows 7 to shine in XP's place.

My house computer uses Windows XP but it is rarely used at all, only to print out homework and stuff for school. Not to mention it has a lot of memory used up and is old. Now, I use my iPhone and MacBook Air.

I have tried out Windows 8 on the display laptops on Wal-Mart. Windows 8 is just an okay OS.
