Blarg, didn't know. I didn't even know about Rankine and Smurdley...

Something like Celsius to Farenheit is more screwed up though. I don't even know the formula...

Yeah- I don't know why you Europeans insist on using such a strange system.

> implying that Celsius is strange

Actually, Celsius makes sense if you consider that it is based on the two temperatures where water changes state.

But that all depends on your point of view. We Europeans probably see Farenheit as weird as you Americans see Celsius :P

Can't speak for the rest of the Europeans here, but I do indeed consider Fahrenheit weird. Right up there with miles and shit.

My post was meant in jest, I think even Americans like myself can see that Fahrenheit is a bit arbitrary. :P (Though I do think it works better for describing the weather than Celsius just because the degrees are smaller)

You know what we need, then?

Celsius, but with the boiling point at 1000.

Wouldn't be Celcius very much then, wouldn't it?

Admitted, the decimals problem is even worse with Smurdley.

So it was below freezing this morning at 5AM, but now I'd bet dollars to donuts it's 60 degrees Fahrenheit right now. And sunny.

What the fuck, Oregon.

Snow. Cloudy sky. Cold. Pretty much the usual this time of the year.

While Europe is going through its cold snap, those of us in the land of trees and old people (Pennsylvania, USA) are experiencing nearly 50 degree (Fahrenheit), sunny weather.

Fixed. Sorry I just had to.

Anyway, still cold as always, and I almost thought I saw our river freeze over... that would be really amazing if it were true, since that normally never happens.

Despite the ~5cm of snow, perfectly normal day if it weren't for one closed bus line we could find a way around.

A bit of the snow melted despite the temperature staying under 0°C all day.

We may be getting more snow Wednesday.

Going out again this evening.. wasn't cold. Still leftover snow.. and some patches of ice where melted snow has frozen over.

Getting quite nice to go outside again.

More of the snow melted today, but there's still much snow and ice in some places.

And it's still freezing cold. This morning, after walking to my bus stop, I put my hand on my hair and felt that some of it was freezing. Though, it wasn't very wet.

The 'snow Wednesday morning' forecast has changed to a few snow during the night and Wednesday morning. Blarg. And the temperatures don't seem likely to go up anytime soon.

I love how everyone is making a big deal out of this cold. Listening to medias, it's like it was -50°C. Hey people, come on, this is Winter, temperatures under 0°C are something that happens!
They're always making a big deal out of everything anyway. Too cold? It's a cold wave Sun is dying we're all gonna die waaah. Too hot? It's global warming Sun is exploding we're all gonna die waaah.
