You can sell a parking space for more than £300k in London. :o

A parking space in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood recently sold for $560k... but that's a rich neighborhood that was built before the car, so maybe it makes sense?

Eh, depends on where the houses are. In Seattle it'd buy you maybe half a house. In Michigan you could probably get 5 or 6 houses. Or hundreds of run-down houses in Detroit.

Though these days interest rates are so low it's hardly worth it.

You're better off spending the money on real estate and selling it again later. Bonus points if you choose a location with a rising economy so you get some nice profit once it gets expensive. :P
