This is a small game.
These are all common and less common icons that appear in Windows XP. I claim that including duplicates, I can tell you where 180 of these icons are used. How many of these do you even know, and would you believe me? |

I recognise a lot of those.. not going to count them though.
There's also a lot of them I don't recognise either. Although, digging the old notepad .txt icon. The world could always use more heroes! |

Posted by Kawa You're not cheating and looking up all the icons... are you? (just kidding of course, I trust you!) I gotta admit, I find it funny how XP still has the old Control Panel and Printers icons from Windows 9x. How did they not catch that? |

Posted by LilianaThey did. Other applications can and do use system resources, and they may request a resource that only existed in 9x. If XP removed them, those apps would break. |

Posted by GreyMaria I can't remember it to be honest. Standby doesn't appear in the start menu as its own option unlike in 9x, and I sure as hell have no idea where else it could be used. Posted by GreyMaria Bingo Posted by GreyMaria Yeah. Posted by GreyMaria You're right. XP doesn't use them anymore. Posted by GreyMaria That one's nigh impossible to guess if you don't know it. 074 = Bitmap font 075 = Truetype font 076 = Adobe Type 1 font And yeah, there are quite a lot of duplicates in there. You aren't that bad, I have to admit. EDIT: fuck, you did the entire thing? Holy shit. Posted by GreyMaria It's used for network shares. Notice the lack of a "normal folder + network" icon. Posted by GreyMaria Oh no I've definitely seen that icon before. Must be for some sort of wizard, now if i could remember where... Posted by GreyMaria I think it was "Download music from the web". Posted by GreyMaria These are for XP's built-in CD burning application which nobody ever uses. First is "burn to CD", second is "Erase CD". Posted by GreyMaria I've never used it but you're probably right. Posted by GreyMaria Good question, I haven't seen that icon before I must admit. Posted by GreyMaria This displays for data CDs, if Windows cannot determine the drive type. Posted by GreyMaria Probably "Share printer". So yeah. Good job, phew. |

Posted by Gywall Actually, that icon is used for this dialog: This folder already contains a folder named '%2'. If the files in the existing folder have the same name as files in the folder you are moving or copying, they will be replaced. Do you still want to move or copy the folder? |

Giga, this is shell32.dll.
Each of these icons came with Windows XP and is/was once used at some point during its lifetime. Chip's Challenge is not made by Microsoft. Figure it out from there. |

Wait a second.. wasn't #13 used in the device manager for certain chipset/IO/Internal Components? Forgot details.
Also: 198 is networked printer. The world could always use more heroes! |

That chip looks a lot like one of the Chips Challange chips so I can understand the mixup. Anyway, it was originally made for Atari Lynx but was later ported to various systems, the most played port being the Windows one that was indeed ported by Microsoft. It's also a bit crappy port too technically, though most grow up with it so most stick with it for nostlagia. Google around for it's history it's quite intresting... including seeing that typos in the "research" documents wind up in the final game. Or bugs like that the "every tenth level message" not being there for the first 50 or so levels, due to them missing in the same paper. ____________________ AIM: gamefreak1337, MSN: Emil_sim@spray.se, XMPP: ailure@xmpp.kafuka.org, YouTube

Since no one else seems to be able to figure it out I'll resolve it. Since I'm lazy I copied GM's list and filled out the blanks. (can someone tell me if I managed to do 180 like I promised? or did I miss the mark=
