I've seen topic and thread, but I'm more used to thread. Again, it's what AcmlmBoards use.

It's funny, Acmlm's was around the 4th or 5th board I joined, but it ended up superseding all the rest.

Same for me- I was on forums before Acmlm's, but it stuck as my definition the most.

The two words can be interchangable, but it depends on what forum software you use.

Acmlmboard is a bulletinboard software by the original nomenclature. It contains multiple forums, which contain threads, and posts.

You can correctly call it a forum as well. I think of a forum as one or two limited scope forums on a topic. Still a forum can be a collection of forums and subforums too..

I bet that didn't help :)

Coming from a Proboards board, the SMG2.5 guys were used to: forum, boards, threads(/topics), posts. When we moved to K64 which was ABXD then Blargboard, much confusion happened.

Yeah, that is exactly what happened to me. I was in Jul for about a month but since I was the SMG2.5 ProBoards site for many months, a forum having boards stuck more with me.
