Using hashtags in speech is probably the dumbest thing since a dried wooden saucepan to cook over an open fire. The world could always use more heroes! |

Posted by Anya I *was* guilty of that way back in the day But I do sometimes write it as "Lol" at the beginning of a sentence "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

I know plenty of people who say "lol" in real life. It's surprisingly common.
People are forgetting how to laugh! Emotions are dying! The world could always use more heroes! |

Posted by CherryBunny Yeah, "LOL" is better since it's an emotion whereas "hashtag" is just complete sillyness. ____________________ Sunshine Realm Welcome to Aqmlm's, the only board with Al-Aq'mlmistrators! |

Rather than say "brb", I'll usually say something like "Be back in a moment" in roughly the same amount of time. The world could always use more heroes! |

Posted by Anya More or less this is my thoughts. I use the nomenclature of the phone when using a phone, I use # num/hash for in most places. Again context specifically. When it comes #hashtags the only place that word I feel should be used is when talking about using them on Twitter/Instgram/Whateverthefuck/Whoodydoo~~ Posted by CherryBunny I agree. I've over heard it once be "This bad. #bad #annoying #whatthefuck #thisisntaword #shutup" Okay it wasn't that. They were discussing their lunch and were going "El-Oh-El hashtag-terrible" I do see the upside of using them in tweets & Instagram to expand the scope of your message, as well as participating in a large group conversation. (I've also been known to participate in an @atmidnight hashtag wars for the heck of it.) It becomes an issue when it's excessive. "I went to the store. #car #food #sunnyday #PINNUMIS4535 #hashtagsrule #whoami?" ^ That's just (and exaggeration, yes but not that far off) annoying as heck. At work? I've even heard of people saying "hashtag" at their workplaces. Heh heh, I guess even professions are vulnerable. ____________________ Sunshine Realm Welcome to Aqmlm's, the only board with Al-Aq'mlmistrators! |

Posted by TarynI remember Gunbound and its password protection. Any word that contained your password, couldn't be used. Pretty much sucked if your password happened to be in the middle of a word you were trying to type. The world could always use more heroes! |

I may or may not be back to life. Level: 53 Posts: 35/661 EXP: 1104153 Next: 52966 Since: 10-09-12 From: 51.41277327819231 0.7888535549864173 Last post: 2412 days Last view: 2016 days |
Wow, there's an entire thread discussing the exact things that anger me the most right now (except for people's idiocy in general). I actually for a coursework piece wrote an article on why hashtags annoy me to no end recently. A thousand words long. Suffice to say I hate the damn things.
And living in England where the £ sign is common, I've always referred to a # sign as a hash. ____________________ |
