That I don't understand. Why repeat words when you can just hashtag the word(s) in the sentence. >_<

Using hashtags in speech is probably the dumbest thing since a dried wooden saucepan to cook over an open fire. >_>

Well said.

On a side note, people who say "LOL" aloud bother me. I know someone who does that. -_-

I *was* guilty of that way back in the day :P But I do sometimes write it as "Lol" at the beginning of a sentence ;)

I know a few people that write it after sentences. Still not as bad as saying it aloud. I never heard anyone say "LOL" aloud until I met that chick.

I know plenty of people who say "lol" in real life. It's surprisingly common.

People are forgetting how to laugh! Emotions are dying! :@

Yeah, "LOL" is better since it's an emotion whereas "hashtag" is just complete sillyness.

I've been known to say "bee are bee" when leaving for a moment.

I've shorten words that I've spoken before but not like "brb" or "afk".

Rather than say "brb", I'll usually say something like "Be back in a moment" in roughly the same amount of time.

......

The pound sign found on phones. I still call it that.

Number sign is when the # is used in front of a number.

More or less this is my thoughts. I use the nomenclature of the phone when using a phone, I use # num/hash for in most places. Again context specifically.
When it comes #hashtags the only place that word I feel should be used is when talking about using them on Twitter/Instgram/Whateverthefuck/Whoodydoo~~ :)

I agree. I've over heard it once be "This bad. #bad #annoying #whatthefuck #thisisntaword #shutup"

Okay it wasn't that. They were discussing their lunch and were going "El-Oh-El hashtag-terrible"

I do see the upside of using them in tweets & Instagram to expand the scope of your message, as well as participating in a large group conversation. (I've also been known to participate in an @atmidnight hashtag wars for the heck of it.)

It becomes an issue when it's excessive. "I went to the store. #car #food #sunnyday #PINNUMIS4535 #hashtagsrule #whoami?"

^ That's just (and exaggeration, yes but not that far off) annoying as heck.

Also, I'm sure at least one person has tweeted their PIN. Or their password.

Chick at work said "hashtag". Yep, that happened and I thought it wouldn't, but it did.

At work? I've even heard of people saying "hashtag" at their workplaces. Heh heh, I guess even professions are vulnerable.

I remember Gunbound and its password protection. Any word that contained your password, couldn't be used.

Pretty much sucked if your password happened to be in the middle of a word you were trying to type. ;)

My work isn't very "professional" either and that's how I like it. Professional = boring.

Wow, there's an entire thread discussing the exact things that anger me the most right now (except for people's idiocy in general). I actually for a coursework piece wrote an article on why hashtags annoy me to no end recently. A thousand words long. Suffice to say I hate the damn things.

And living in England where the £ sign is common, I've always referred to a # sign as a hash.
