Currently the coins gained per post is I think simply a random value between 100 and 500. (new thread uses a higher limit but dunno what it is)

I think it should still be somewhat random but be dependent on post length, to reward people who write longer posts, and to punish people who write one-liners all day.

Coins really don't have much use so I don't see how it matters.

Plus, word count means nothing when it comes to quality. Rewarding people more for the better they are at writing fluff seems dumb as well if you ask me. <_<

Although, in truth, this may seem to be an idea of reasonably sound logic, I think you may end up finding that this encourages people to make long posts while carrying absolutely no regard in the slightest for the message that those long posts convey. There is an art to making somewhat shorter posts, as I'm sure you're well aware; Shakespeare himself once said "Brevity is the soul of wit" and I feel that statement is one that most would consider to be very much true. No one particularly wants to sort through a post where a statement is incredibly drawn out, when they could see a post that is fairly short and concise, right? Concise, now that's a good word with a good ring to it. It carries quite a huge amount of meaning given its duosyllabic nature. We've no need to descend into sesquipedalian loquaciousness in order to simply make a post carry on longer than it needs to; it's very easy, after all, to simply write and write and write and write and convey no additional meaning whatsoever. As a result, I suggest we leave things as they are.

Or, not making me want to smack myself, a lot of meaning can be conveyed in a short space, and writing extra-long posts doesn't in and of itself carry any extra meaning, so I don't think this is a worthwhile change.

Coins are one of those gimmicks, like sprites, as I see it.

And besides, as pointed out. There's not a major use for them.. yet, although I see no plans to make use of them in the near future either.

The world could always use more heroes!
