Another Internet browsing poll.

Me, I use DuckDuckGo. It's simple, doesn't constantly second-guess me (and never does when I put + in front of words), and doesn't try to track or remember me. I just wish browsers would let me select it as the default.

Google. But I also just type the URLs to get websites' main pages.

What I don't like is thst when you are on a computer, you have to disable Google Instant.

I have never done it, but what if you search for "penicillin"? Once you have typed "peni", who knows what you will get? o_O

Yep. If I know a URL, I'll type it in. Some people will just put everything into a search engine.

Google. I hate Bing and the layout it has, and everything else is too different. Google is the most familiar.

Google Instant is such a birdbrained idea. It wastes time giving you results you don't want.

Its existence was a major impetus for me to stop using Google Search.

Google Instant should be disabled on default. Really, you end up finding disturbing things before you are done typing. Sigh. Sometimes I wonder why people's lives are made harder with these "updates". >_<

Yeah, I get frustrated when I'm on an older machine and Google Instant is enabled

Tends to bog down something like a Pentium III or older (also, the first search engine I ever used was probably MSN Search or Yahoo, before Google became the big popular one)

Google has some shortfalls though, other search engines can pick up on those falls. Ask is probably the best one for covering the majority of those.

I don't even think Google is that great <_<

I don't really like how it always returns the most popular sites, not necessarily the most relevant. Like I search for a game, and I just get every giant corporate pan-gaming site rather than the smaller, more specific sites about just that game.

Sometimes using.. say.. "Title of Game" -Reviews can filter out some of the big ones that all use the same moulding.

You just need to know how to play the keywords to get what you want. In fact, the order of the keywords makes a very big difference. The earlier you put one, the more priority it takes and so forth.

Eh, maybe that's why I duck the issue by using a different search engine entirely.

Personally, I'd like to see a '90s-style search engine that only searches for what I literally typed. If I make a typo, it's easy to just go back and correct it. But no, normal people want computers to be "smart". Bleh.

Actually, There's the people who struggled to find "Awsome gaems" by using the older search engines. People can't even spell the easiest of words sometimes.

Anyone else remember Lycos Search or AltaVista? They were some of the big ones at the turn of the millennium

Sadly, it seems like "Google" has become synonymous with "search engine" since the mid-2000s... AltaVista no longer exists, but last I recall Lycos still exists (even Tripod/Angelfire still do o_O
