Pesonally, it looks to me like YouTube wants to control the video-sharing area of the internet.

Imagine running a company worth $100k at most.. Then getting offered $3M for it? Are you saying you'd resist the temptation in that offer being 30x the value? Consolidation is the new success story. That's my big issue. The second issue is it's going to be hard to use the service if they have to comply with a Content-ID style system. What if Nintendo doesn't want you to live stream DKC2? So that could be bad. (Now that doesn't mean it will happen like that, but one must look at all outcomes.)

Even if it was Youtube buying TwitchTV, it would still be owned by Google, considering how Google bought Youtube a few years back. I think that was in 2008 or something, when they realised how good Youtube was doing. Either way it's still a bad thing. Google wants to own everything. Eventually that will happen. |

I don't personally think they'd merge it with youtube, I think they'd fix it up and just rename it to something like.. "Google Stream" or something like that, and have easy access to upload to youtube. That sounds more reasonable. |

But too much consolidation is bad because you end up with monopolies.
