My last proper vacation was last year in August when I went to PAX Prime in Seattle. This year I can't go. So I'm taking a few longer weekends at work this year.

Last week I took three days of PTO and I'll do the same in July and then again in August (which will have one more extra PTO day).

Why does it look like many people won't go on holiday this year? Is there a syndrome of sorts? :P

In all seriousness, I'm actually surprised how many people can't go on a proper holiday. The only place here I consider a proper holiday costs way too much to go.
There is actually a price fixing done to make people spend more. Years passed and obviously nothing has ever changed. Well, crap.

Money is usually the main factor. That's my reason why I can't go anywhere this year.
But then again I did spend money on three different concerts this year, so at least I've got that.

Heh, while usually we do this not to spend an insane amount of money, in any case money gets always spent for something else.

Man, for a moment I thought the my connection was bombing out as usual, if it wasn't that other users were experiencing the problem. I'm talking about the one minute downtime. :P

Also, isitdownrightnow.com lied to me. Twice. Or it magically caused the board to end its downtime. :P

Adding something to the isitdownrightnow.com thing.

I remember once I tried to check if a site was down on different website checkers. While a certain website was down they gave me different results.

Well, QUALITY all over the place. This slightly confused me at the beginning.

It depends on how the server is trying to get a result. There's multiple ways of doing it. Some just do a port scan, some will actually pull the page's content.
