A bot from the future got stuck.

I suggest to start using ABXD's calendar implementation.

This is a problem nearly every AcmlmBoard has, webspiders get stuck in the calendar for ages, because there are no clear limits to it.

In ABXD, we just scrapped the entire concept of multiple years. The calendar's only real use is for looking up birthdays anyway, as all popular operating systems have great calendars built-in.

He is predicting the future.
Google is planning out what will happen to all boards hundreds of years from now.
I shudder to think of what we will have become to have lived so long.

It's scary to look at the calender for like 2060 and see all of us becoming 60 and 70 years old.

I'll be dead by then.

Nontheless I vote we keep it and watch how many spiders get caught in our web, staring at the year 20,000,000 BC as they slowly go backwards in time :D

Another solution against that is removing year/month links for bots, or just prevent them from accessing the calendar (why would you want your calendar indexed anyway?). The positive side of this solution is that it doesn't cripple the calendar's functionality for regular users.

Speaking about the calendar, cosmetic wise, I suggest to make it look like it does on Board2, aka big cells. The smaller cells feel weird to me, especially when they can have variable height because birthdays...

I just added a robots.txt and disallowed calendar.php. That's should fix it. Let me know on IRC if it doesn't.

We'll also look at some code level fixes too later.

*closes* eh.. not fixed. lol

Get a netbook, then come back. Compared to that, this resolution is huge.

It's a real pain in modern times :P

From the experiences on my 1024x600 netbook, I can say that resolution is just enough for decent browsing. For some windows apps you do need more vertical pixels, but with the web you are fine. Don't even think on keeping your bookmarks or history panel open though :P

BTW posting this from my desktop, which has a 1920x1080 monitor.

I'd like to throw in that the Tumblr dashboard page has a fixed width of some 900 pixels. Always. So you could at least do that from Dude's netbook.

I'm confused on what's broken, honestly- I mean, I guess it's a bit silly to have the calendar go that far back...

Bots still get stuck on the calendar?

I'll just need it as a notepoint for when I get around to implementing a certain feature and correcting the "February" spelling.

Bots can be really dumb. For instance, long ago, I added a fix on my board to prevent them from indexing all the memberlist combinations. Basically, bots don't see the option links. I have tested it and it works. And despite that, bots are still indexing different memberlist combinations they aren't supposed to be able to reach.

Anyway, perhaps the calendar should stop at like 1970, or 2000, or the year the board was founded. There isn't supposed to be events programmed before the launch of the board (AB1 supported programming events to show up in the calendar, idk if this board does), and it's just silly to look back in times where computers didn't even exist...

What were the calendar events for anyway? I mean, the calendar is so rarely consulted, so I find it hard to expect they would be noticed much. :P

Perhaps birthdays and events could be unified somehow, so that the index page could show today's events alongside birthdays, or something in the like. And it would link to the calendar for a description of the event.

It'd also need an interface for managing the events. On AB1 you'd have to do that with PMA :P
