Wilhelm Scream is included more as a nod nowadays too. Which is why it's so common, it's basically a easter egg for people who listens to movies closely. 
There are some other infamously common sound effects (like the "Police station" sound used in some Simcity games is also a common stock sound effect in tv series). Someone should make a site with those. Edit: Turns out it's "Seven eight six five, code six, one-oh-five North Avenue . . ." used in plenty of media i was thinking of. Stock sounds are pretty easy to recognise at times. I recognise a fair number of weapon hit sound effects in games.
Same can apply to a mixture of guns.. which gets amusing when the sound effect doesn't match up at times. The world could always use more heroes! |
