Well that's the big difficulty with text based communication. You can't see any inflections and have to go by your own guide. Colloquialisms don't help either as a lot of phrases used on the internet are negative phrases used to indicate the inverse.
If all else fails you could ask the other person if it was sarcastic. If they are a dick to you than.. well you can proceed how you feelings dictate. That's a good point. Sometimes I help highlight if I'm serious, thinking, annoyed, or so forth with my mood avatars. So if my post has a hidden tone, the mood avatar is a highlighter. It's about the best I can do on the internet to add a bit of body language. The world could always use more heroes! |
