I think I remember reading somewhere.. some developer worked out from online statistics.. that 2 out of 3 players were pirates. That worked out to be a few million in lost revenue. That really hurts the developers. 
To be honest, games which offer a cut-down version for free and then a "full" version for a premium are alright. Some people stick with the free version.. others get the full one. Some games with that model cost what.. £5 for the full version? Small prices to tempt people. The world could always use more heroes! |

Heh, the Nintendo DS and Wii were cracked really easily  Dreamcast and GameCube also had a bit of a piracy issue AFAICR, Dreamcast could read games off regular old CD-Rs"Miracles happen, when you believe..."

The intention of the Wii was for homebrew loading. But of course, pirates hijacked that scene in favour of piracy.
A bit of a shame, 'cause it discouraged people then from making homebrew less they get called a pirate. The world could always use more heroes! |

Isn't it difficult play a modded game on the GameCube since you need to directly hack thr GameCube's hardware?
