I'm quite surprised this thread hasn't been made yet.
So anyway, chat about the New 3DS here. Personally, I think the name is confusing. I cannot tell if the New 3DS is a new console handheld console that is the successor to the 3DS or if it is a redesign of the 3DS like the 3DS XL and 2DS, which is why I did use the Nintendo 3DS tag for this thread. Nintendo really messed up with the name, just like they messed up with the Wii U, and Nintendo has not confirmed yet if the New 3DS is the successor to the 3DS or just a redesign of the 3DS. ____________________ Sunshine Realm Welcome to Aqmlm's, the only board with Al-Aq'mlmistrators! |

It's hard to say. It will do everything the current models do, but better... As well as have exclusive software for the beefed up hardware.
They've done this before. Just look at the previous generation with the DS Lite to the DSi. The DSi had better features and had exclusive software too (DSiWare and several camera-based titles). If anything, it's a half-step generation. |

I smell another Wii and Wii U thing  Imagine if the New 3DS had awful battery life, heh (oh yeah, at least it's compatible with original 2005 DS games)
Nintendo seems to be Appling in a way, with different models of the same console (2DS, 3DS/XL, New 3DS/XL), wonder if they'll discontinue the Old 3DS/XL or sell it alongside for six months/a year or so? "Miracles happen, when you believe..."

I hope Nintendo doesn't continue to confuse people with console names. I mean, using confusing names for console redesigns and entirely new consoles in a bad marketing strategy.
