So, how did you come about to on the internet? As in, when where you just a lurker guest and when did you post on a website or just register at a website?

Back in the late 90's and early 2000's I didn't really know how to use the internet and all I did was just find train pictures and stuff like that. Then in 2004 and 2005, I would search for Super Mario Sunshine stuff like typed walkthroughs. There are also the school-related websites, but that doesn't. I use school-related websites for homework and stuff nowadays, but like I said, those don't really count.

Well anyway, I continued searching for Super Mario Sunshine walkthroughs for a few years. Then, I decided to search for Super Mario Sunshine related stuff other than walkthroughs. Around 2008, I came across this one site that I don't remember what it's called and I don't even know if it still exists. I searched for Gooper Blooper and the site came up as a result. It was about this fanfiction of Shadow Mario ordering the Super Mario Sunshine bosses to attack Mario and the bosses become fed up and team up with Mario to defeat Bowser and Bowser Jr. I also cam across MarioWiki and MarioWikia when I searched for Gooper Blooper.

So I looked at MarioWiki for a while and eventually went on YouTube to watch all sorts of Mario-related videos. In 2009, I discovered Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii and RVlution through BowieZ on YouTube and also in 2009, I discovered TCRF through the New Super Mario Bros. Wii beta elements page on MarioWiki.

In June 2010, I learned about this "galaxy_08_strm", which is the unused Beta Song 3/Galaxy Song 25 in Super Mario Galaxy 2, on MarioWiki. I googled "galaxy_08_strm" and found Jul, SMW Central, and Fantendo.
____________________________________________________
In late October 2010, I decided to edit articles on Fantendo as a guest. A few days later it was November and I registered an account on Fantendo. In the following days and weeks, I made accounts on MarioWiki, RVlution, and Jul. When I was banned from Jul in early December, I decided to become a bit more active on Fantendo, MarioWiki, and RVlution.

One day in early December on RVlution, I saw that the last post in the General Wii Hacking forum was by Glem3 so I decided to take a look. I discovered Glem3's thread for Super Mario Galaxy 2.5, a Super Mario Galaxy 2 hack Glem3 started.

I joined Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 and became one of the most prominent SMG2.5 members. (I believe I still am a legendary former SMG2.5 member. I am a "former SMG2.5 member" because I am not part of the Super Mario 2.5 One World Hack, which is the Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 revive. :P) I eventually became busy and left the internet in late July 2011, although I still obviously used school-related websites during school and I occasionally looked at MarioWiki, but as a guest and edited anything and I never logged in.

In August 2012, I visited the Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 Proboards board as a guest, but I did not post anything or log in because I was saddened by all the drama I saw. It was apparent that Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 was dying, and apparently SMG2.5 started to die after I left in late July 2011. Coincidence? Not sure.
____________________________________________________
In late January 2013, I found out that Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 had moved to Kuribo64 so I registered on Kuribo64 in late January 2013. The rest is history.

So here I am now. Who knows? Maybe I'll be able to accomplish things far greater than Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 ;)

The internet has mostly just been there for my entire life and I've become accustomed to using it a lot of the time. I think this is the first community I've ever been an active member of though.

No, wait, that's not right...

Basically yeah, I barely remember the internet not existing- some of my earliest memories are playing Checkers online via Prodigy, and it just kind of went from there.

I think mine stemmed from looking for Pokémon tips & secrets back in the day. So long ago, I barely remember it.

A long story involving using the Internet for nothing but email at first and my parents telling me not to go on Google or Youtube without permission because "there could be bad stuff on there". I started really using the internet after I was looking up music tracks from a game and discovered a lot of videos.

We got Internet in 1996, but I wasn't allowed to surf alone, only with my mom there. I looked up a few things about the C64, and some things for school, and that was about it for a few years.

Then in 2001 my overprotective parents allowed me to surf on my own (although I still had to use their computer, which was the only one hooked up to the Internet). I think the first thing I looked up was cheat codes for SimCity 3000. Then, from there I started reading other SimCity 3000 sites and articles, and then moved on to sites about other video games. Eventually I found "The Mushroom Kingdom", a site with a wealth of interesting information about Mario.

One day when I was browsing TMK I happened to see "Level editors" in their left pane, so I clicked on it. I had wanted to make my own Mario levels for quite some time. They had an ancient DOS-based editor (which was fine since we had Windows 98 at the time) called Mario Improvement, which I downloaded.

Then I found out what else I needed...an NES emulator (I found one called Nesticle) and a ROM (which was very hard to find in 2001, not like now). I tried to get the editor to work but it would just show random objects instead of actual levels. Apparently I had the wrong version of the ROM.

So I went around searching for any information at all about Mario level editing or NES emulation. I found a site with an interesting name, "Acmlm's ROM Hack Domain". I tried to pronounce "Acmlm" in my head and came up with something like "Ack-mulm", which is still how I pronounce the name. Anyway, Acmlm's site had a bunch of other modified Mario games (which I learned were called "hacks") in a weird format called IPS. I learned how to add the IPS files to a ROM and play them. In time, I found another editor (YY Mario Editor) that actually worked and started making my own Mario game by editing SMB1, creatively titled "SMB Edit" (and still unreleased to this day).

Later, when browsing a site for another game I liked (Sid Meier's Civilization) I happened upon a link to something called a "forum" or "message board". I had seen those links before on other sites but ignored them, figuring my parents would never let me use them, but on CivFanatics I started reading the posts. Then I went back to other sites like TMK, found their forums, and read their posts too. I thought it would be fun to be one of the people to actually post on there.

2001 made way for 2002, and I got around to begging my parents to let me sign up for message boards. They said it was OK but only if I got my own E-mail address. This was in the days before Gmail, so to get a new E-mail account you had to ask for it from your ISP. We went to their office and set one up for me, then I started using it to join boards, like the old Challenge Games board and TMK's Fungi Forums. A few weeks later, I revisited Acmlm's site and saw that he had a board too. I found a wealth of Mario hacking information there and eventually joined.

The rest is history.

Way back in the year of 1998, we had just gotten a new HP computer which had Internet access through a modem... back in those days, newsgroups were still around and more dominant than message boards ;) I was 14 at the time, and still mainly used my Macintosh which was handed down to me once they got the HP but unfortunately did not have a modem or any connection

I remember the early days of Final Fantasy VII, Pokémon, and other games and how rumors would spread (first on school playgrounds, gymnasiums or cafeterias, and later on newsgroups, Geocities/AngelFire websites, and early message boards)... I was guilty of asking about ways to possibly revive Aeris in FF7 in those days on Usenet ;)

My first email address was with the Fairpoint ISP (which I think is still around today), but also had a Yahoo shortly after which I used until I got a Gmail for the first time... by May 1999, "Dragon Goddess" was born and would become my main Internet alias for the next 6 years or so :) In those days I was on many Sonic the Hedgehog, Wicca, Final Fantasy, etc. websites; sadly, I did not come to Acmlm's until January 2004, which was the tail end of I1 :(

2004-2006 I was gone from the Internet for most of the time, but since then I've pretty much been on daily ;)

I hated that dialup sound. I wonder why it could never be turned off.

I remember being on the Internet around 1999... or something? Pretty early at least. Can't remember what I did back then, though.
