Hi everyone! My name is Alice Smith, and I am a MTF transsexual. I have gone my whole life questioning my sex, and last October I finally accepted my transgenderism. Immediately following that, I attempted suicide by ingesting a large amount of various pills I had lying around my house due to my thinking that my parents, family and friends would not accept me for who I was.

After the suicide attempts, I started seeing a therapist at the University I am currently attending. While the vast majority of my reasoning had to do with my misperception of my family and friends acceptance of me, part of my problem was related to me disliking my job at Walmart. My therapist suggested I quit my job, so I did.

Right now, I am facing the harsh reality of not having a job and being trans. I currently have $15,000.00 in student debt and I have not had the necessary money to pursue my transition.

I am asking for your help and support. Please give what you can. I will keep this page up-to-date with new information whenever it becomes available.

I'm proud of my niece (I have a niece!). I told her if she ever wants to chat, she can text/call me. I'm glad that she failed in her suicide attempt.

Shame that most people are afraid what they deem "different". I told her that it'll be hard, not going to sugar coat it, but she has people that will support her.

Was going to ask what MTF meant, then realized it must be "Male To Female".

And no, the easy way out is not the right way to go about it (about the suicide attempt). It seems to have been a misunderstanding, though.

It's never an easy step to admit something like that. There is, unfortunately, still a lot of prejudice out there.

I'm just glad she's still alive, and I hope she finds a job soon so she can finally start being herself.

I would say that quitting your job when you have debts isn't the wisest idea, personally. I hope she finds a better job before falling into a debt spiral.

Wal-Mart isn't exactly the most trans-friendly employer though. So she'd be fired sooner or later anyway.

And she must have felt really bad if even her therapist suggested quitting.

A friend of mine from high school who transitioned FTM gave my niece some good advice. He's worried that she's trying to get attention and is confused. My friend suggested a therapist that he went to that deals with what my niece is going through.
