My view is we can get rid of it. I mean sure there are some valid reasons to have it (mostly class and id css being consistent.) I think that we're going to run into the issues less and less as adding pages isn't something we do a lot of. It would be cleaner to work with for the uninitiated as well.

$L made sense back in the early web days where CSS wasn't really a thing, because attributes for color and such had to be repeated for every element. But now, well...
