Some high quality GBA OSTs I only realized now that existed.

It's a hit or miss whether the higher quality samples make the music sound off or not, but it's all interesting nonetheless.

Any tool that allows you to select a custom SF2 MIDI soundfont should allow you to listen to that correctly.

After a bit of Googling, I may have found the correct plugin. (I don't use WinAmp, so I can't really test it. I'm sure that the Foobar2K equivalent works as it's what I use.)

Seems like you can change the individual instruments in that one too. Does it also have the ability to load several soundfonts and use the best (what you prefer) instruments?

A great thing would be if it can also modify the volume of each instrument.

Audacious can't do that and it sorta sucks when some songs sound great with a certain soundfont but the instrument that plays the main melody is way in the background or has low volume.

Edit: What's this about a registration fee?

Edit 2: Nvm. Seems to be optional.

Changing the soundfont is basically required for these MIDIs.

You should be able to load whatever .SF2 (and other) soundfonts you want. The MIDIs from that Sonic Retro page come with their own soundfonts. Each game has its own (but in practice, it seemed like the every soundfont in that archive is the same).

The one I use for foobar2k (DUMB module decoder) has a page for changing the volume of the instruments, but for these MIDIs it doesn't work. I suppose the WinAmp plugin has a similar page, and maybe it will work there.
