From what I can observe around myself, it seems like there's no room for being chubby, but just that... Dunno how to explain it.

It's like there are three main clans regarding weight:

A. You are 'normal'. You strive to be the 'normal' size and adhere to the society standards. If you must, you will spend your time working out and eating low-calorie salad and other depressing food.

B. You don't care about your appearance. Either you're slim because you naturally stay slim, or you're obese and you have given up.

C. You are one of those morbidly obese deviants. You weigh over 200kg. You can't do anything without getting tired, but you love it and you have worked hard to convince yourself that you're sexy.

Where does that put me for example? I'm not even sure. I'm chubby and I like extra fat on people in healthy amounts.

This is an uncomfortable position pulling me apart between clans A and B. All signals say LOSE WEIGHT LOSE WEIGHT YOU ARE ABNORMAL LOSE WEIGHT. It's like in Mario Kart when you try to race backwards, the Lakitu constantly tells you to turn back.

It doesn't help that I have failed to find a proper style for myself, either. It's like anything I try looks like shit on me.

So yeah. This is where chubby people go, they're either forced into normality or considered to not give a shit about their appearance. This is utter bullshit. You can be chubby and look nice. Fuck the norms.

It's just an unhealthy trend for weight. There's some sort of beauty image imposed on people that is snappy-twig thin.

Just ignore it, be comfortable with whatever you're happy with.

I do have to agree that the models in the Soma and the Lane Bryant ads look more real than the images that Victoria's Secret tries to portray ;)

I'll have to mention a positive thing though, there's a new law here about ads using model pictures: if the picture is photoshopped, they're required to mention it

I actually had a mental breakdown because I thought I absolutely needed to lose weight, and so I proceeded to starve myself.

It's not what I want at all but societal requirements, you know. And I'm too anxious to just go my own way.
