I use NoScript, but you have to be really liberal with allowing JS nowadays, which I guess defeats most of the purpose...
Not really. Generally (but not always) you can allow the scripts for the website, and block everything from outside. I don't do this if I rarely access a website.

(I use MBAE as a failsafe in case something horrible happens)

Nowadays it seems that sites have to allow an outside 'CDN' domain just to allow images; and sometimes even that's not enough just to make the text show up...

I get by with AdBlock Plus for the most part and enabling stuff like "Do Not Track" within Firefox :)

I don't usually count the cdn subdomains as external. Most of the time they are required to make the website work properly to work anyway.

But other shit which seems shady and looks like it's there just to throw ads or other unwanted crap doesn't get allowed.

I mostly use an ad-blocker to block unwanted scripts or anything of the sort.

Also, I don't get why most people feel the need to make complicated webpages code-wise, I can very easily create a very modern-looking website that occupies less than 1MB of space, with just HTML5 and standard CSS mind you (and a bit of JS where need be). I mean, sometimes you need to think: do you really need AngularJS, Bootstrap, etc. for your website? Do you really need it?

Maybe I should get a static website up soon...dunno what I'd put in it though.

Ah, I tried something like that for the CSS in a test news engine.

Except it doesn't look like a modern-looking website because I hate flat design and I'm still on the fixed BG+rgba mentality.
(spoilers: it looks mostly like the layout I'm currently using - except a little cleaner and a little more complex. for reference, this is how said news engine looks like)

Love Add Block. Not sure what I would do without it.

Sometimes I happen to browse sites without adblock (univ computer, phone...). The differene can be fucking huge. Ads at every opportunity.

Although I can mostly fix that (apparently, could install adblock on the univ computers, but I'm no longer there, so deh; and I installed Firefox + µblock on my phone).

One of my favorite pastimes? Adblocking all the dumb "WE USE COOKIEZ!!!!!!!!!111 BY USING THIS SITE YOU AGREE TO RECEIVE ANAL PROBES FOR CAPITALIST PURPOSES" banners.

That's basically one more reason I write pages like it's 1995 these days.

No cookies, no scripts... and I never had ads to begin with so yeah.

Now where's that damned kitten pile?

That's because of some countries' laws regarding cookies.

I think we set that off.

Honestly the web should go back to that. Keeping things simple.

You know it's taken a very wrong turn when writing modern JS is more complicated than building a cross-platform C/C++ program. The sheer amount of frameworks, transpilers and other crap is ridiculous.

European laws, yeah.

But I tend to think they just like to annoy end users, as weird as it sounds. Case in point:

Law requiring to inform users about cookies: fuck yeah let's shove annoying banners and overlays in their faces
Law forbidding detection/cockblocking of adblockers: uuuuh, nope, let's pretend we didn't notice that one

uggity ugh.

i started working on a blargboard mot, then i understood it was too cumplicated and ugly. the codebase is ABXD's one, so i started working on that.

Then i understood that importing stuff and blarg into ABXD would be too cumplicated

so i am returning with blargboard, even if i don't like something in that -.-

heh, it's not like it's he's saying that without reason :P

For me, setting a good example would be adding in a certain str_replace line. But nobody seems to want to do that. >_>

what a shame

Ugh. I wish you would have stop using that word over and over again. Please. Also, you misspelled the word "Complicated" wrong, sir.
