A lot of games seem to be pushing towards a first person perspective these days.. but, which do you prefer playing in?

Personally, I prefer a third person perspective in general.

First person for me, but with the option to switch to third when the situation calls for it.

Hard question. Depends on the game.

First person!

Thirdperson is nice for platforming games but that's about it.

I have no preference. I'll play ANY perspective, any game genre, anything. I guess it just comes from playing a shit ton of different games as a kid, from NES to Genesis to Computer FPS' to N64. All kindsa different perspectives there.

I don't have much of a preference for perspective. I rather liked the third-person in Mass Effect, it seemed to flow really well. I also like Halo, too.

Personally I get kind of sad if it's a mainly a shooter game that is first person perspective (more immersion). Unless there is really a good reason for third person perspective. Plus it works better for multiplayer games (harder to surprise someone in third person perspective).

You'd be surprised how easy it can be to surprise people in certain third person multiplayer games..

I've seen it happen a fair few times.

Honestly I have a lot of trouble orienting myself and such in first-person games- it just becomes so much easier when I can actually *see* my character.

Well, I can handle first-person pretty well, and for games that offer both (hello Battlefield) I definitely prefer first-person mode.

I'd rather play a third-person game any day over first-person. Many people argue that a first-person game is more immersive, but I find myself able to enjoy being part of the story from the perspective of a fly on the wal with a silent protagonist moreso than through the eyes of a loose lipped moron. That's just my opinion, though.

I guess I just can't immerse myself in someone else's eyes... I mean, a simple act like jumping becomes nearly impossible for me in first-person games, but it's very easy for most people... I wonder what the hang-up is, really.
