I used to have a pink name back on Acmlm's Board. Not because of gender issues, but because it helped me find my content in a veritable sea of blue links.

The whole thing where fairly gender-neutral writing confused a whole lotta people into thinking I was a girl was... a nice bonus.

It still happens on various other boards, btw. Even without colored names.
