Yes. As memory serves, SNES CD was supposed to be through a partnership with Sony, which ended up falling through after Nintendo wanted to stick with carts.

Nintendo moved on to the Nintendo 64, and Sony took their work and made a standalone system: the Playstation. The rest is history.

It was actually over licensing.

If they used Sony's hardware, Sony would have full control over what was published on the Nintendo Playstation. Nintendo didn't like that, so they silently reneged and went to Phillips.

Sony found out, pulled the plug on the project, then made the Playstation as a competitor to the Nintendo 64.

Fun fact: It's because of the deal Nintendo wanted with Phillips that caused the existence of the godawful CDi games.

hm... you could code it, then have no "real" avatar or a blank placeholder, and put CSS trickery in your layout to move an image there where an avatar would normally be-- of course it's be fragile as hell, and anyone with layouts off couldn't see your avatar... but it's not necessarily impossible.

Quick question. One of these days I'd like to try and reach the highest posting syndrome I could possibly achieve just for fun, but I don't know if the mods would be okay with this due to the sheer number of posts I'd have to make even just to achieve Reinfors syndrome. Is it an issue if I post a lot if those posts aren't pure postcount++ material?

EDIT:

Just noticed the changed thread title. Did some research on who Taryn was and... that's very unfortunate to hear of her passing, even if it wasn't very recent. Even when its just someone on a forum or message board you see now and again that passes it feels like a family member passing away. On a board I used to be on, a situation like this happened before. It sucked then and it sucks now.

I do hope Taryn is faring well on the other side.
